Customer Questions & Answers

Can it be used to store/secure the battery of a trailer

Asked by: Fla
Sure, you'd likely want to drill a hole in it to route your wiring though. Do this carefully and you won't have a problem. The seems to be quite water resistant.

The box is very shiny, bright, sealed up, nice lock, lid fits tight, mounted perfectly to the trailer A-frame, nice in size. The diamond plate metal is just a tad bit thinner than what I would've liked to of had. To prevent holes being poked in the bottom and to keep things from rattling or rolling around, I bought a piece of rubber and cut it to fit, kind of like in my tool chest drawers. I'm very pleased with it so far.

As I have just installed it, I'm curious how well it will age. Being Al, I'm sure it will handle the weather and road salt just fine. However, I could see the latch and or the damper that keeps the lid open failing in years. Time will tell. I'm happy with the product for now though, and would purchase it again if I needed to.

He was very happy and said it was perfect for storage of his tow straps. The one thing I don't like about it is that the metal is "thin". He had no complaint about it and is excited to install it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice aluminum trailer box. Very good product for the price, was delivered on time. Fit trailer well. Was one of very few lower profile boxes available.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well built though light weight This box is surprisingly light weight, though welds and overall construction are good . . . nicely made. The tongue on my trailer is 3/16" angle and the included self drilling/tapping sheet metal screws are not up to the task. One broke off during installation, so I used 1/4-20 bolts with fender washers on the inside for a much more secure mount. I have not installed a floor reinforcement and the box easily holds two 20' 3/8" chains and lever type binders with no sign of stress. I think it'll do just fine. Lid opens and latches securely latches. Good value overall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for I needed an aluminum tool box for my utility trailer that would not interfere with the tongue handle. I liked the diamond plate construction that matches my trailer. The opening shock rod is another plus I was not expecting. Also, the price was much better than others I was looking at. If you need a storage/tool box for your utility trailer, I don't think you will find a better value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice, small box This box is sized to fit on flatbed and low-sided utility trailers, and it does that quite nicely. The box is built with sides that slant at 60 degrees, which is common (albeit not standard) for y-shaped trailer tongues. It is built from an aluminum gauge that is suitable for its size and likely load. I still recommend reinforcing the bottom with 1/4" of Masonite or plywood - which will also cushion the load a little and keep heavy items from denting the bottom. Installing the box takes a bit of creativity - the install kit that comes with it contains only two short pieces of aluminum angle iron and no screws. I think it makes sense to fashion some clamps to hold the box down - probably from a couple of lengths of angle iron that will reach from one tongue channel to the other and can be bolted to the box without having to drill holes in the trailer tongue. (I don't like drilling holes in trailer tongues - it weakens them a little, and the tongue can have quite a load on it, especially when bouncing down a rough road.) The box is SHINY! Don't look at it when the sun is out full force. If you do, you will wish for welding goggles! I hope the finish dims over time; otherwise I might just take some rubbing compound to it.
