Answer:
If you leave the jack outside, exposed to the elements of weather, the jack might rust. We do not recommend leaving our jacks outside if you plan on using the jack again after leaving it outside for long periods of time.

I have a 50 year old house. It has settled about an inch in center. Structural engineer said to put two jacks on either side of main support beam. The crawl space is 30 inches. What can I use to put under the 20 ton low profile bottle jack since it is only 11 inches.

Answer:
I bought 4" thick 8"x16" cement cap blocks at the local hardware. They are very cheap. Make sure the ground is level underneath them. They work fine. I jack up my 80 foot long home 2 tiers at a time using a 4"x4" timber about 3' long. It is better if you can put a solid piece of metal between the jack screw and the timber. with a heavy load the jack will push right through the timber.

Answer:
There isn't an answer that I can tell you because we do not recommend adding something below the jack to extend its reach. It is unsafe and you would be putting yourself at risk. If you are looking to support the main support beam we do sell professional support jacks but they are not hydraulic.

One of the pictures shows a steel plate that the bottle nose fits into for a more stable lift. Is this included or can be bought as an accessory?

Going to be lifting a floor and am concerned with the nose digging into the beams versus lifting the house. I had planned on purchasing some plate steel, but the plates in the picture look like the ticket.

Answer:
I didn't get the plate with my purchase. I did go to a local machine shop and buy 3/8' x 3" x 6" steel plate to use with the jacks I purchased. MORE than enough strength in the metal to lift the joists and main-beam of my house with no flex on the steel and no damage to the wood.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked like a charm I was skeptical based on some of the previous reviews, but it worked perfectly. I bought two and one had to be adjusted so that the piston stayed fully down, but that was just a matter of loosening the oil valve, pushing the piston down thereby letting some air out, and closing up the valve.
