PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Model # TAPE-100

Holographic bird ribbon drives away birds humanely. Irri-Tape bothers all of a bird's senses. As a visual scare, birds are scared by the material's sheen, as the light causes constantly changing 3-D colors and images. As a sound scare, birds are rattled by the noise Irri-tape makes as it blows in the breeze. Use for pigeons, sparrows, starlings, crows, blackbirds, grackles, seagulls, swallows, woodpeckers, ducks, geese, and more. Ideal for yards, gardens, rooftops, parks, ponds, boat docks, private beaches, patios, balconies, any open outdoor area or any semi-enclosed area with access to light and wind. Holographic ribbon is a full 2 inches wide and 100 feet long. Hang in small strips. Brackets for mounting above ledges or railings included.

Answer:
I'd tie the ribbon to branches on the tree. Remember, in order for the product to work, there has to be room for the ribbon to move in the breeze.

You can tape it, staple it, or pin it to the tree. As far as how many, you would have to use your best judgment. We do advise that you do have a few strips at all angles of the tree. This deter the birds at whatever angle the birds are coming from. When they see the tree they will see the reflection of the Irri-Tape and hear the crackling sound, frightening the bird to come near. CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 16 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by inconclusive ? since I'm at work & not home all day to watch, my only gauge of effectiveness would be quantity of bird droppings before & after. I would say my patio definitely has lot less since I put these up, but not sure if it's because of this tape or stuff I sprayed up in awning beams. I clearly see how the noise/motion this mylar tape makes in a good breeze would make birds want to leave - besides, my wife loves the festive multi-color "decoration" now. LOL! May 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product for Keeping Woodpeckers Away This tape is great for keeping woodpeckers away. I've used it for years. This particular brand is very sturdy and flashy. May 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Does not work - waste of money! We purchased this tape from another outlet but it is the same that is sold here. We installed it exactly as described in the included instructions. Then we watched the fruit tree and very soon a Mocking bird landed in the tree and ate a fig. The wind was even blowing allowing the tape to make some noise and it did not disturb the bird. It may work in other type of trees or applications but not in fruit trees. Birds are smarter than most people give them credit. This is an overpriced item that does not work at all. I also found out that the price is set by the manufacturer, so Home depot is not too blame for the expensive cost. First picture shows the bird, near the top right side, eating the fig and you can clearly see the tape in the tree. Another picture shows the bird standing on a branch in the same tree with no regard to the presence of the tape. July 17, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't bother. Birds aren't scared of shiny tape. I'm not sure who started the rumor that birds are scared of shiny tape, but I put this stuff all over our one plum tree and it did nothing to deter the birds. Also, the stuff ripped after a month. November 30, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This product is working, keeping the woodpeckers off the house! Easy to install. I tied the ribbon with a knot like a man's tie, and that seemed to work best. Bottom line: No new woodpecker holes in the house since the ribbon went up a month ago. November 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great bird repellant! The bird repellant ribbon is excellent--very iridescent and easy to work with. I've not had a single hummingbird to impale itself in my screen since using the ribbon. September 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by no more woodpecker, ha ha A beautiful, endangered species, woodpecker was tap, tap, tapping holes in the new rails of my deck and waking me at 5:00 A.M. every morning! I looked for a solution on the internet and the suggestion was "irri tape." I'm a widow and i was able to easily install it. It is quite pretty holographic ribbon and best of all, it worked! Thank you Home Depot for helping me. June 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kept The Birds Off My Ledge We have a protected ledge above columns on my front porch. Those darned robins can build a nest in a couple of hours. Rubber snakes worked for a year or two, then the doves pushed them to the ground and the next day the doves were nesting on one side and robins the other. Hubby bought this product this spring and cut several strips, attaching with push pins above and over the ledge. Scared the birds away the first day. I saw evidence of dropped grass and twigs they were bringing to build their nest, so it scared them enough to drop their stuff. When the wind blows, the strips make a crackling sound that frightens the birds and the shiny strips catch the light and must frighten the birds as well. Worked for us! June 21, 2014
