I have a similar model and the cage is in tact but the plastic tube was broken by squirrels.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Birds really like this feeder! Hung the feeder from the arm of a 6' vertical pole. Birds showed up almost immediately. They really seem to like it. It's easy to fill and hang. March 3, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Easy feeding for squirrels If you have squirrels, this is not the feeder for you. The decorative structure allows a squirrel to hang on the sides of the feeder and slurp the seeds from the tray at the bottom to its hearts content. And if the squirrel swings the feeder it will quickly empty depositing all the seeds on the ground. April 30, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Mixed Thoughts This is a stunning and well priced item. The problem is our birds do not seem to like it. The plethora of copper decorations may reflect too much sun? Maybe the copper absorbs sunlight and makes it hot to the brids' feet? Maybe the inner core for seed storage isn't lined up correctly to allow a bird to perch and then eat ? We don't know, but it's the least used of all of our feeders, BUT THE PRETTIEST! January 6, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very pretty, tough for the birds The perches (wires and base rim) are too close to the seed access. The birds have to turn sideways, and then crank their heads, to be able to get their beaks into the seed through the seed portholes, and in the base rim -- even for sparrows and finches. It's a visually pleasing design, though. October 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic After going thru four feeders to try and replace caged ones that this little tiny squirrel can climb in and have a buffet, this one is working well. The sparrows do not seem to flock to it; a few sparrows can hang on to feed but they do not hang out all day long like on other perch types of feeders. I have finches, nut hatches and chikadees feeding. I have not spotted an squirrels. I could see how a windy down pour could cause water to collect on the bottom. As this idea just popped into my head, it may be possible to drill a few drainage holes on the bottom or maybe the company can incorporate it in future models. Also in future models, the lower feeder ports could be raised so falling seed just lands there instead of being spilled out on the bottom. I have two of these feeders one halfway under an overhang and the other i did hang under a shield to prevent the foreseen rain issue from the other reviewer. Oh and the feeder is cheaper in the store by a couple of dollars. October 6, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Purchaced as a gift and has really been enjoyed This product was real attractive, easy to use and worked well as a gift for anyone who like to bird watch. October 28, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful feeder that doesn't half work ... Looks great. Holds lots of seed. When I first fill it & it is dry, birds flock to it. I've seen every hole with goldfinches. My problem is that when it rains the little tray at the bottom catches water. That waterlogs the lower seeds and they then will not settle into the lower feeder openings once the seeds there have been eaten. They kinda glue together. Cardinals, juncos, and other birds that require flatter perches won't like this, but I've had goldfinches, titmouse, and sparrows. So, it's OK when it's dry - but when wet; it's only half of a feeder. Like right now - it is 1/2 full - the birds have eaten all they can reach from the top & the bottom holes are gunked up and they can't reach in there either. So they've deserted it. I've cleaned it several times. Problem alway recurs. Effectively, it's only half of a feeder. Gonna try to drill out larger holes in the bottom to try to salvage it. :-( April 8, 2014
