16 in. 38cc High Performance Gas Chainsaw is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from The saw works well, the instructions not so much We live in an area prone to high winds and earthquakes, so I wanted to get a chainsaw for use in emergencies. This is my first chainsaw. It comes with a fuel mixing bottle, combination spark plug/bar wrench, sharpening file, and bar scabbard. The construction uses a lot of plastic, including the fuel and oil tanks. Assembly (connecting the bar) took about 10 minutes, complicated by the instructions saying to "mount the guide bar" before mentioning that the tension adjuster needed to be moved out of the way before the bar could be mounted. The fuel mix is 40:1 and the recommended bar oil is 10w30 motor oil. There are two sets of instructions for starting, one in the manual and one on a label on the saw. They do not agree with one another. I more-or-less followed the manual to get it started. Once started, it worked well, cutting smoothly through a 7" softwood round in only 11 seconds. The saw is easy to handle. Which brings me to the instruction manual - it's very poorly put together. There's no overall diagram identifying the operating parts of the saw. The starting instructions mention a "throttle lock button" which doesn't exist. The throttle is referred to as both a "lever" and a "trigger". It says you can't push in the choke (it automatically releases when the throttle trigger is pulled), but the label on the saw says to push in the choke, and in fact you can. The manual also says to repeatedly press the fuel primer bulb "until the bubble is completely filled with fuel", but regardless of the amount of pressing it only filled half-way. Other problems with the manual are many misspellings (anti-freze, "washar" for washer, etc.), the section on the chain brake is titled "Oiling Port", the parts diagrams have the wrong parts identified, especially on pg 13, and the diagrams are small and unclear. There are no detailed specifications or maintenance instructions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw! Used this saw to cut down two trees and saw them up. One tree was a 30" weeping willow and the saw just barely had enough blade length to cut thru from both sides. Saw had plenty of power and started up easily every time. I ran five tanks of gas and bar oil through it on the day I used it. The only issue I had was the kill switch is very close to my right thumb when using the saw, and I accidently turned it off at least once on each tank of gas while cutting. I have big hands and was using gloves so this may not be an issue for everyone. It also came with a file that I used when I was done to touch up the teeth. Nice piece of equipment

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very Light and Balanced After i put this Chainsaw together. It started right up and had great maneuverability. It is light weight and easy to move around. It was difficult to put together and the directions were not that clear. Other than that this is a good basic chainsaw. Good for little tree around the house but not for commercial use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Died on first use This chainsaw started on the third pull, ran for a few minutes, then stopped; I could not get it to start again after about 1/2 hour of triple-checking, then with engine starter. I'd tightened the chain before starting, and i could see it loosen while it was running, so I tried to turn the screw to re-tighten it in between failed restart attempts -- the head bored out, it's not removeable, and it's too small and in too tight a space to try to cut into it -- so even if I could start it again, the chain will remain dangerously loose forever. Polaris discovered plastic can replace many metal parts, but crucial parts like a chain tightening screw must be able to stand up to regular use; this chainsaw got half of that formula down.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from If you counted on only getting 4 uses on the saw, buy it! First use was fine. Tried to restart. Nothing after 4th use. Now won't start at all. Changed spark plug, tried other things. Nothing. Bad purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product was a waste of money No one has been able to start the saw. Pictures in the instructions are unclear. Contacted the manufacturer, received additional copy, no better. Throttle lock button not where indicated. Serious oil leak from body.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This saw has enough power, is easy for me to handle and start. The instructions leave a bit to be desired. I am a 68 yr 109 lb woman. I am able to handle this saw very well. My other saw was heavier, harder to start and I was unable to purchase replacement parts. My only concern is finding parts if needed for this one. I do not have a problem starting it. It has cut through 15" logs with ease. I have currently cut 4 cords of wood with it.
