Answer:
The largest I've cut is about 6" and it had no problem with that diameter. Since the bar length is 8", it should do a 7"+ without issue.

Ralph, thanks for the question. That's an error on the page we will have to get fixed. The pole saw has an 8" bar so it will cut up to 8" branch with out much effort. But for larger branches up to 15" you'll want to cut it from both sides as deep as possible so the two cuts can meet.

Not sure if your question is about the pole saw pole length or the saw's bar size. I returned this Sun Joe electric pole saw because it had an 8" bar and not the 10" bar as advertised! There are a few manufactures who make a 10" bar electric pole saw. I have not seen any electric pole saw with a longer than 10" bar. I believe the average reach of a pole saw including your height would be about 12' to Read More

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 33 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Too Heavy!! I really did not "try" this product because it was "too heavy". This was the chainsaw without the pole. The chainsaw weighs 14 lbs and I'm a 60 year old woman. I could barely lift it out of the box so I sent it back without trying to operate it.. I ordered a different brand that is not as heavy. This one is working out fine. May 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hard to take apart I should had read the reviews before purchasing this saw, I have the same problems as other reviewers, I never got to use the telescopic arm because the machine burn out on the first week( yes, I did put oil ) Don't recommend this product, sorry April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Portable electric chainsaw Quality and performance was better than expected for the price March 1, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by product overall Bought item on sale, brought it home to use it, but unit will not unlock to convert to pole saw. unit comes as a chainsaw. instructions are written very poorly, also should come will oil. I am sure it will do the job if I could get it to unlock to convert to a pole saw, will take back to depot for new one. March 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Attractive offer...thought I would be able to handle it I had not expected the saw when fully extended to be as heavy as it is. It was heavy even for my 6"1" 230 lb husband which makes it difficult to effectively cut limbs. March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent addition for the homeowners power equipment needs This is perfect for any light duty application if you need to trim and prune tree limbs, saplings etc. The telescoping pole extension allows me to either stay on the ground or when on a ladder, away from falling debris during a cut. I feel safe and confident now with this tool. The instructions are a little confusing for assembly and seem to be missing some steps, but once you figure it out, it's really easy to use. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Descent saw, but no support. Got this on a one day sale, so it was a good value for the price. Only used it once so far but it worked ok, a little small and a little under powered but it did the job. The manual shows you how to turn it into a chain saw, but not back into a pole saw. The problem was that it was shipped as a chain saw and I couldn't get it apart. Called the customer support but they were closed. Call again the next day during business hours and no one was available, so I left my name and number but no one every called me back. Finally I forced the lock knob over (just about breaking it) to get it to come apart. Now it comes apart and back together much easier. Descent saw, but no customer support! November 4, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I does what I expected it to do. The directions booklet was not as clear as needed and had poor photos of of the product and parts. After a phone call, a qualified person explained it very clearly and was very cooperative. I am happy with the results. The eight foot extension can only reach about four feet because of the way you hold the bar and weight of the cutting end. February 10, 2016
