These stakes will have to be driven into the ground 10-12 inches. If they are much less than a full 1 inch, they may be too frail to drive. I have to purchase 500 stakes immediately, and don't have time to buy a few and experiment..

Answer:
no. Just like when you buy a 2 x 4 stud it is not the actual size. These are 3/4" x 3/4" x 48". I have approx. 75 stakes now but I only put them into the ground 8 to 10 inches and my soil is cultivated with my tiller so no problem driving into the ground. Had no problem with them holding up pepper pants and tomato plants. They usually grow to approx. 3 to 4 feet. it the tomatoes get to tall I just trim Read More

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product BUT incorrect measurements Nowhere in product description does it state actual measurement of stakes. Stakes actual measurements are: 3/4 in. X 3/4 in. X 3ft. 11in. April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great stakes the redwood makes them last longer than pine. Also soon as I got them I brushed them with linseed oil. The have lasted to seasons here in Fl. Only had a couple which had breaks and that was at a knot. I bought one package and like it so I bought one more. Remember when you buy a 2' x 4' plank it is not actual 2x4. Just like these they are actual 3/4" x 3/4" by actual 48 inches long. This the third year and I will be buying another package of them as I enlarged my garden. Between the 50 or so pepper plants and lots of tomato plants I needed another package. You can order them on the Home Depot and have them delivered to the store for free. Also I could not find another web site that sold them cheaper. Some did but were pine tree stakes. remember if you want them to last years make sure that you put on linseed oil or some other preservity. I also have bamboo but even with the linseed oil they don't last as long. Buy most of my need from Home Depot as the beat other stores on cost for the same item. February 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Stakes First time purchasing stakes of this quality. I will have them for years to come. Easy to install and look great in the garden. Well worth the money as I won't be throwing them away in the fall. July 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great deal, great product I ordered the 4ft garden stakes for an outdoor decoration project for work. They were the best bargain and were extremely high quality. Very easy to drive into the ground as well. The perfect purchase for what I needed. July 16, 2013
