Answer:
Hello Colorado,
It absolutely can! We recommend purchasing about 10-25 pounds of high temperature resistant fire glass. Please make sure that it is 1/2" or bigger so that it does not get stuck in your pilot guard. As for converting the unit to natural gas, this is possible but we highly recommend that you go through a licensed plumber for the conversion.
I hope this helps! You have a great day!

Answer:
I called the Manufacturer and this is what they said:
Yes, you can user fireglass. However, you want to use about 10-12 pounds of 1/2 inch or bigger glass.
Yes, you can convert it to natural gas. However, the kit is NOT offered by the manufacturer and it voids your warranty. You would need a licensed plumber to do the conversion for a 50,000 BTU unit.
Hope this helps!

Are you referring to the assembled height of the product or the distance between the ground and the heating element? If it's the latter, how do you determine where that is?

Thank you for reaching out. This unit is 18" tall, which does not provide the space needed for a 20 lb. propane tank. The Galleon is perfect for those seeking a fire table with a coffee table height, which is ideal for warmth and conversation. If you would prefer to conceal the tank, we recommend purchasing a unit with a height of at least 24", or utilizing a Tank Hideaway, see it here Read More

Galleon 38 in. Square Envirostone Propane Fire Pit is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fire pit flaking already We received this firepit as a wedding gift, the paint on it is already flaking , very disappointed inn the quality of the finish. The cover that comes with it is total junk and will never last long at all. Disappointed with that as well. The functionality of the firepit is great other than that.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from always something Ok... The online manual said something g about a door on this thing, but there is no door. This unit is meant to have the propane tank outside; not underneath. That was disappointing but I put the tank under my deck and forgot about it. The unit came chipped and some parts rusted (adjustable legs). That too was disappointing. However, the look is great and the flame is pretty warm......warmer than most others that I have felt. Its nice and low so it is not uncomfortable to put your feet up. The fake wood finish is actually really nice looking. Not tacky at all. All in all I like it and will keep it even though I have to make arrangements for the outside tank and rusty parts which I can replace easily even though I shouldn't have to for the price.

Very rustic finish is not tacky and once you replace the lava rock with fire glass the fire pit is transformed !! Perfect height to put your feet up and relax, even though the flames do get quite hot! Highly recommend.
