Product Overview

This Bonnie Sweet Basil plant is a must-have for every kitchen garden. It is the key ingredient in classic Italian pesto and upgrades every summer tomato sandwich. Sweet Basil has large leaves that are fast and easy to grow. It loves hot weather, so wait until all danger of frost has passed before planting in the garden in the spring, then harvest before the weather starts to cool down in fall. Great for containers, but be sure to keep watered. Plant arrives in a biodegradable pot with a well-established root system and hardened off for easy transplanting in the garden.

  • Sweet genovese basil is a popular choice for any herb garden
  • Prized for its ease of growing and is a key ingredient of pesto
  • Plant spacing: 18 in. apart in rows or 1 plant per 18 in. container
  • Ships in a 4 in. plant-able, biodegradable pot by jiffy

Customer Reviews

Rated 2.2 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by D.O.A. I am still recommending this product ONLY if you can pick it up at the store. Shipping these things just destroys them. Price is right, product is very nice and of course customer service is great as all ways. That is not to say shipping is bad for all things, just definitely not for the plant products (in my opinion and experience any way). June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great sturdy basil Last year I grew 2 of these Bonnie Plants sweet basil, as well as 2 sweet basil that I picked up from a local garden shop. The Bonnie ones definitely outperformed, so I repurchased them for this year! Great yield, sturdy stems, and no issues re-potting. They grew about 14" tall in my small tabletop pots on the balcony. Looking forward to enjoying them again this year. May 16, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed I ordered this plant online and the shipping process was atrocious. My poor plants were beaten and battered so much I was afraid they wouldn't survive the transplant into my pots. This plant came with three stems. The first died during shipping and the other two have barely started to recover. My biggest issue with this plant is I live in Phoenix and these were grown in Mississippi. The climates are very different so I feel the chances of recovery are very low. Why wouldn't you just ship me plants that you grew here? The thought process doesn't make sense. May 20, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Basil-DOA I received one tiny little basil stalk with 2 tiny leaves clinging to life, it died in two days. June 23, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Useless Basil plant arrived in shredded condition. Already dead when it was packed. June 2, 2015
