Eggplant Size

My ichiban fruits only get to about 4 inches and then turn yellow. What's wrong?

4.5 in. Ichiban Eggplant is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1st time planting Planted with red plastic ground cover and had wonderful results. The plants do need to be kept moist ! Terrific flavor and size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough plant, tender fruit I bought one of this on a whim in May and I am so very glad I did. We've had an unusually hot and wet summer this year, and a lot of my vegetables couldn't handle all the extra rain and humidity--the squash in particular has been a big disappointment. The Ichiban Eggplant, however, has been able to take everything the season has thrown at it--including the bugs! Mine's in a 5 gal planter with a tomato cage as an extra bit of support. It's July now and I've gotten maybe 9-10 eggplants so far, with no sign of slowing down. The eggplants themselves are delicious; a special treat because the tender skin never looks so pretty on the rare occasions you can find this style of eggplant in the grocery store. Definitely going to make space for more than one of these next year!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Massive producer with a mild delicious fruit The plant is a prolific producer, able to harvest 2 eggplants per day. The fruit is mild, no noticeable seeds, thin skin with no bitter taste. The plant is perfectly suited for a container, and requires no staking. The leaves were attacked by some insect that was easily treated with Sevin. Will definitely plant next year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tastes great! Bought early this spring and it is still producing 8/5/17. Will definitely buy again. No peeling. Great taste if picked young. Naked with banana peppers and bacon grease. 350 degrees - 30 min in toaster oven.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely Eggplant I live in Southern California and planted late on July 1st 2017, and by Sept 3rd have several eggplants 7 inches long and more and more flowers very happy! Its a smallish plant in southwest exposure with good loam and even moisture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love them Very easy to grow, just sun, water, and some all-purpose fertilizer. No need for trimming or pesticide. Unlike globe eggplants, which are very big and takes forever to mature, these Japanese variety is slim and very high in production. Grow two plants you will get at least three to four mature eggplants every week. That's enough food for a meal but not too much at a time. Perfect. I have been having these in the past three years. Never disappoints. Love them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great producer I bought four plants last year and planted them in a raised garden. They did beautifully and the eggplants they produced were wonderful -- sweet, flavorful and so thin-skinned they didn't need to be peeled before stir frying. The plants themselves were strong enough to withstand an onslaught of leaf eating bugs and they continued to produce well into September. I plan to buy eight this year.
