Does bottom give?

When stepping in and once in the tub, is there any give in the bottom, or is it rock solid like cast iron? I am replacing a steel tub that gives with every step--hate it.
Asked by: Newtothis
it does not give like a steel tub. it is softer then cast iron. so not as solid but does not give like the steel one.

Is the drain included? If not, what drain do you recommend?

Asked by: Anonymous
The drain is not included. My plumber selected a pop-up type drain for installation.

The tub chipped during installation. Nothing fell on it and it was professionally installed and covered when it went in. We'll be touching up the paint on a brand new tub. Not too happy about it in general, or knowing that in the future, basically anything will cause a chip or scratch on this thing.

DENTED Just as everyone had said....we got it to the house maneuvered it into its cubbie hole (not easy in a small bathroom); pencil-marked all the places on the wall beside it, etc. for installation..... and then we noticed it had a dent on it. a noticeable dent. Sooooo, yes, we had to take it back out, put it back into its box, uplift it back into our van, and haul it back to Home Depot, unload it onto a cart (none of this is easy with a huge tub), wheel it to Returns.....and get another one. And this was all done after we'd already checked out the tub, we thought thoroughly pre-buying-it. Because we'd heard from a HD sales associate that Bootzcast has lots of dented tubs, we'd ask the sales associate to open the box and we surveyed it before ever buying it. But because he cut the box along the dotted line (which only reveals the inside of the tub.... instead of opening the entire box up, we could only feel along the edges....so we didn't see the dent. :( . So a warning to buyers: Certainly open the box all the way up before you leave the store with one of these. Apparently, Bootzcast has a warehouse forklift problem....or a shipping problem or something. I plan to write them too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a quality product Purchased tub and took it home. Box was in perfect condition but the finish had a scratch and was very thin in one big spot. Returned tub for refund. Tried to purchase another one and it was even more damaged. Went with another brand from another chain.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Couldn't find one that wasn't cracked We went through two of these tubs both of them came in cracked, and the other three that we checked at the Home Depot stores were also damaged. We ended up going with a different brand. Incredibly frustrating.

We debated a ton on whether to go with cast iron or porcelain-enameled steel. I live in a second floor condo, so steel it was, and I'm glad we went that route. This tub ended up being 1/2 inch wider than the old, so we had to cut some tile on the floor. Once we got it all set in place, we did have to cut off some of the insulation in order to get the overflow to fit properly. A few things to note: 1. If you can find an undamaged tub, this thing is great. We went to one Home Depot and found an AWFUL tub. We then went to another that had three in stock, and this one was packed better and looks great. I have found maybe one pinhole in the porcelain. Moral of the story: check out the tub before you leave the store, or you may be upset. 2. The tub is a little off-white. I used white tile for the surround, and I didn't find it to be the end of the world, but worth noting. 3. The soaking depth is quite nice, and the sloped back is 50% of why I installed a new tub!

I was a skeptic and boy I was wrong, Unless your budget requires you to use this bootz tub or bootzcast please avoid if you have the extra money and this topic that i see a lot no quality control is completely true, bottom was not flat or level even on level floor, sides bent you name it. I am settling for acrylic I thought i was avoiding issues getting cast but if its no made properly its trouble, I understand it may be hard to manufacturer these and keep them to spec with weight and all but if that's the case for you guys don't manufacture garbage!
