Well, the first box I bought contained a right-drain tub, in spite of being labeled a left-drain tub. The second box I purchased (and asked the folks at Home Depot to verify whether it was the correct drain) ended up with a huge dent and chip in the enamel in the front. Third time's a charm, because finally, that tub was in pristine condition--I required the tub to be taken completely out of the box in the store, prior to purchasing. The folks at Home Depot were very accommodating and understanding towards my frustration. I think this is an issue with the Kona factor, not HD. All things considered, even having been put an entire day behind wasting time, gas and energy travelling back and forth to Home Depot, I would recommend this product. Just *don't* order it online, and *do* inspect the product before leaving the store with it.
The tub is a good value. We annoyingly had a 59" space to fit a tub in, and if you're looking at this 4.5-foot tub, you probably know how difficult it is to find budget-friendly tubs that aren't 60." The next alternative was fiberglass and several hundred dollars more. Since our space was just a few inches longer than the tub, we needed to construct a shelf behind it (see picture) which actually comes nicely in handy for soaps and stuff in the shower stall.
Again, value. This isn't a fancy-dancy tub. It is heavy and bulky. The drain impression is larger than the standard size of most drains, leaving a small puddle ring of water around the drain after the tub is in use. But for a couple hundred bucks, I will happily live with the imperfection.
If your goal is to do a bathroom remodel in under $1000, buy this tub. It is sturdy, looks nice, is comfortable to stand in, and I honestly don't notice that it is 6" shorter than the usual tub. But please, check the box first!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CScott Quality replacement steel tub
We replaced a plastic tub in one of the bathrooms in our mobile home. This tub fit exactly in the same spot length wise and was a huge improvement over the old faded and cracked tub. It arrived with no damage. The biggest challenge was getting a 4 1/2 foot tub into a 4 1/2 foot wide bathroom. After carefully removing sheet rock on one side of the bathroom and a little piece on the opposite wall we were able to set the new tub in. One word of caution. After you have set the tub, place moving blankets over the outside edge/apron to protect it from falling tools and 5 year olds with hammers!
We've got one more tube to install and should be even easier and it will go into a long bathroom.

Got this tub to replace fiberglass tub/shower tearout in a mobile home. Good fit, though it required bumping outer wall into room 2-1/2 in. (tub is only 30 in. wide) to get close enough for existing plumbing to work. Also had to cut a small hole in one wall on near side of tub due to insufficient clearance left by built-in linen closet. Extra insulation in double wall and also under both ends of tub itself help make bath very quiet, even with ceramic tile surround. Tub comes with large 2" block of styrofoam attached under middle bottom for leveling and sound deadening. Surface cleans easily - just like your enamelled kitchen appliances (bottom has a superfine grit component that makes it non-skid, and can not be cleaned with any abrasive cleaners or methods). However, because I do know well how to damage enamel surfaces in the kitchen, we are keeping all metal objects out of the tub!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DIYinthepark1 Great upgrade for our old trailer!!
Great price for a good fitting tub for a trailer bathroom remodel-great upgrade over the overpriced plastic thing in our recently purchased 27 year old "palace." Recommend adding insulation to deaden noise as we read prior to installation-steel seems noisy. I stuffed in some pink fiberglass around the tub, and it does the job very well. Also, it looks ten times better than any of the plastic garbage that is sold specifically for mobile homes and costs three times as much. Very happy overall, only upgrade I would say is if you can, go cast iron if you want to break the bank and your back. Oh, and it is American made, great shipping in plenty of time.
