Questions & Answers

What is the difference between Bootz Maui and Aloha?

I looked at the dimensions of these two tubs and something doesn't seem right on the HD website, what is the actually soaking depth of each of the tubs? I see the length and width are the same so the difference must be in the inside depth of the tub. Thank you

Slant back on the maui, and deeper tub.

60 inch tub in a 58 inch opening

My current tub is in an opening that measures 58 inches from drywall to drywall. Will this 60 tub or one like it fit in the opening
Asked by: Eric
The simple answer is, yes it will. Bathtubs are built in and typically cement board / tile are placed on the inside of the tub lip. This is what typically accounts for the missing 1.5" The standard bathtub is 60" x 30". Most homes use this standard size.

Is this tub avail. 20" deep or deeper?

Asked by: Anne
To my knowledge, there is no steel alcove tub commercially sold that is 20 inches deep.

Does this tub have anti-slip surface on the inside?

Asked by: FrogPrincess
Yes, but I still use a mat in mine for secure footing. When it is soapy while showering, it can still be a bit slick

Maui 5 ft. Left Drain Soaking Tub in Bone is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 197.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Double check before you leave the store Purchased this tub online and picked up in store. Got it to the house and upon opening the corner was crushed. So loaded it back up and exchanged it. Second one gets home, unboxed and the finish is chipped. So i take that one back. This time beforehand leaving with another I had HD open the remaining ones and every single one had chipped finishes. I tell the HD guy to just refund my money. Worst part was they taped up all the chipped tubs and left gen right on the shelf for someone else to purchase and return.

I really wanted this to work, but I should have listened to all reviews on this one. I purchased tub, brought it home to install, and found a circle the size of a quarter in the bottom of the tub where there was no enamel! There was no damage to the box so I can only blame the lack of quality control at the factory. I immediately returned it to the store where I inspected the remaining three tubs on the shelf. This time, I removed the cardboard in front of the employees. Again, all of the packaging was fine, yet ALL of them had some defect in the enamel. That is four tubs total! Even the store manager came over to see what was going on and had no explanation. I ended up leaving without purchasing a tub. I'm embarrassed that these are stamped with "Made in the USA" on the box.

Cosmetically nice, but contractors had to open four boxes to find an undamaged tub, and finally had to drive to another store. They did not indicate any problems with installation. Now, five days after installation, rust is appearing around the drain. These problems have been commented on by other reviewers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Like the others mine was chipped Inspected the tub at home depot but the chips turned out to be by the ledge that we couldn't see without completely tearing open the box. Very frustrating that home depot doesn't offer a decent selection of tubs.

Plumber had already installed, so I couldn't return it. Home Depot had no one to repair the chip and no one to recommend. Cost of repair was more than I paid for the tub from local companies. No help at all from Home Depot. Manager said they would give me a small discount, but I never followed up. I repaired with some liquid porcelain repair paint. It doesn't look too bad now and isn't very noticeable. Be careful to inspect the tub for any chips prior to installing. Chips expose a very dark color underneath and if it's in a very noticeable spot, you'll be very unhappy.

We were concerned with ordering this tub since we had read multiple reviews of the same tub having chips in the enamel upon arrival at the store. Our project had a tight deadline, so we went ahead and ordered the tub, planning to grab another brand of the shelf if this one arrived damaged. We inspected the tub after it arrived in the store and before we purchased it; we did not find a single defect in the enamel, however there was one small dent in the apron's side. Because the bone color matched our project perfectly, and because the dent was barely noticeable, we went ahead and purchased the tub. Install went great, and we are very happy with our new tub.

It's a real problem when a tub comes defective with a chip right in the middle of it. After you have schlepped a large unwieldy box home and up a set of stairs, the last thing you want to do is re-pack it and schlepp it back, get a cart, and help and haul it out of the car and back into the store. I bought the same tub again only because we needed that size and it was in stock, but I asked the staff to help me open it in the store before I took it home. Ridiculous though, that the company shipped a defective product. It was very well packed and didn't appear to have been affected by shipping. WHY??? Too much work!

If I had read the reviews prior to buying this tub, I would not have bought it! This was my first tub install ever. I originally purchased a different tub, which I needed to return. During the install, because I was 'learning', I had to pull it in and out many more times than I can count. I actually bumped the porcelain with my sawzall (which I don't recommend) but the tub was fine. No chips! After installing the tub, I installed wallboard and a tile surround, which required lots of stepping in and out and standing in the tub while working. The tub handled all of my issues without a problem. Very pleased.
