What is the difference between Bootz Maui and Aloha?

I looked at the dimensions of these two tubs and something doesn't seem right on the HD website, what is the actually soaking depth of each of the tubs? I see the length and width are the same so the difference must be in the inside depth of the tub. Thank you

60 inch tub in a 58 inch opening

My current tub is in an opening that measures 58 inches from drywall to drywall. Will this 60 tub or one like it fit in the opening
Asked by: Anonymous
The simple answer is, yes it will. Bathtubs are built in and typically cement board / tile are placed on the inside of the tub lip. This is what typically accounts for the missing 1.5" The standard bathtub is 60" x 30". Most homes use this standard size.

To my knowledge, there is no steel alcove tub commercially sold that is 20 inches deep.

Does this tub have anti-slip surface on the inside?

Asked by: FrogPrincess
Yes, but I still use a mat in mine for secure footing. When it is soapy while showering, it can still be a bit slick

Maui 5 ft. Right Drain Soaking Tub in White is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 133.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great option on a budget Installation was not easy (as with any bathtub in a tight space), but we couldn't be happier with this tub. Insulated around the tub and underneath the apron with R30 insulation for sound reduction and warmth, and that works well. One issue to be aware of is the finish. Open the box and check the porcelain surface before leaving the store. A perfect box doesn't mean a perfect finish. Look for major chips and dings, but also look out for pinholes in the finish and the lip being bent or warped. We looked at six or seven in the store before finding one that was free of defect that would be seen after installation. If not for the ordeal of finding a tub without unforgiveable blemishes, I would rate this at 5 stars. No reason to pay 3 to 5 times the price for cast iron.

I spend a little extra buying this particular tub over your other cheaper and less deep tub for all my remodels because I feel it is better for the family who will be using it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Horrible junk Where do I begin? We are on our fourth bootz Maui tub. It is just a horrible manufactured product. Nothing is square or even. Had to make dozens of adjustments till I just said no. First inspect the tub before purchasing for nicks, dings, and dents. The first tub had chipped paint and bent left bottom corner. Upon returning it, I had them pull four to inspect and three of the four had issues like the aforementioned. One had a area on the top back left corner where they applied to much porcelain coating and had raised paint. The others were out of shape from one end to the other bowed out. When we got the replacement one home and installed the drain that had a gasket it cracked hair line cracks. Only positive is it was cheap. But I'm chalking the bootz and going with a slightly more expensive one..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not even a year... I read the reviews of this tub and figured I had a 50/50 shot at getting a good one. After unboxing it at home I found several chips but none in obvious spots. I repaired them with epoxy and it came out good. However after only 8 months the tub is cracked and rusting in the bottom.

But I give them only three stars because the apparently high probability of chipped finishes or other damage. For our first tub, purchased in October 2016, we had to buy two because the first one -- opened and inspected by our contractor in the HD store when he went to pick it up -- had chips and damage in several places that would be visible after installation. He had to wait at the store while workers retrieved another tub, which he also also opened and inspected. Our second one, purchased this week, he did not inspect in the store. When he opened it in our front yard, we saw that it had a chip on the front left horizontal surface at the base of the flange. But we were certain that it would be hidden by the cement wall board, tile and caulk. In fact, the wall board and tile completely cover the chip. So we did not have to take the tub back. I don't know if the finish problems are in Bootz' manufacturing process and could be caught at the factory before shipment, or if they happen during shipment to Home Depot or in handling at Home Depot, but the problem is real. We've bought 3 tubs to get 2 usable ones, and one is usable but not flawless.

The tub itself in the store was what I needed but when the special order arrived a week later we took it out of the box it had a scratch in the front of the tub half an inch long 1/8th wide. I had to return it and since my handyman/plumber was not available during the Holidays we had to reinstall the old tub which I will now have re-sprayed. I had to pay labor to take the old tub out and then reinstall the original tub due to Bootz shipping a product right out of the box with a scratch!!! I will not recommend this manufacturer to anyone nor will I buy their products again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost 1 year and still love it!! We, like others who have written, did our research before buying this tub. Looked at L__e's, local plumbing suppliers, M____ds, etc.....and this fit the bill for us. MADE IN USA, fit with decor, AND extra depth. We did a total remodel, yes, WE did it. A little daunting at first, but we took our time and did it right. This tub is no exception. Thought about cast iron, but the weight, carrying it through the house without ripping walls, smashing fingers, etc..made this a no brainer. We had no chips, no dents, no problems. Install was a breeze. We are planning on buying another for the next remodel in bath #2 this summer. Great value and quality for $$ spent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Contractor review - pictures included My wife and I run a small property investment, rental, and renovation company in the Western Pennsylvania area. I am the licensed contractor of the outfit and head up our small renovation crew. I wouldn't say that we specialize in high-end installations, but we do our best to offer a lot of value for money in our renovations. The pictures included in this review are of a bathroom renovation in our area using a Maui tub purchased at my local Home Depot. I did not pick out the tub myself: the people at HD did. There were no problems with it -- it was still in the box. I've personally handled the bulk of this renovation. I feel I'm at least minimally qualified to handle the work of putting one of these in and I can confidently pass judgment on this tub. It's a great steel tub. You can get exceptional results with this tub. It's about as difficult to install as other steel tubs are. You will rarely make an investment better than this one in home improvement. I will most definitely by buying and installing this tub again.
