What type of drain should I be using. I used Sioux Chief
Model # 828-2PK but strainer body appears to be too small for the pan opening. Now I already have it installed but it's not centered.

I do not remember the drain size in numbers, but I removed a standard tub and the drain in the shower base was the same as the tub. Hope this helps.

Any of the shower drain assemblies should work. I am not sure what you mean by "the strainer body is too small for the opening"?
If you could provide a picture, it could help.

Answer:
I would not as you probably have some un-noticeable movement in the pan and the grout /tiles may crack.

i used hardybacker cement board and tiled to that! Just remember to screw the board over the lip of the pan But about a 1/4 of an inch above the liner itself, then use A 100% silicone caulk between the board and the pan.then u tile to the bottom of the board, then caulk between the Tile and the pan again!!!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bootz shower base Bought it twice was broken both times. Bad product. October 13, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by LACK OF INSTRUCTIONS Pretty pan--but the guys--pros, had never seen anything like it (they'd done mortar base Vikrel) and NONE of us could figure out the 'pictures' nor LACK of instruction!! NONE COULD FIND ANY help!! DISAPPOINTED. August 19, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not for us Easy to install and looked good but scratched floor in the 1st weekend of use. June 5, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I love the steel shower pan covered with porcelin. It looks like the same material the tub was made from that I removed and replaced with a walk in s It was so easy to install where the old tub was. Took the bathtub out, and put the shower pan in where the tub was. Fit perfect as did the drain for the shower. It is right where the tub drain was. February 17, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good quality, great price nice product. installed two of these and replaced tubs. had an issue with one pan that the threshold sloped out of the pan instead of level or in. This changed our plans to put framless shower doors, glass contractor said he thought it would leak, went with semi-framless sliding. July 31, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by bottom cracked after 2 years the bottom cracked.it leaked for a while before i noticed. it needed more support. the foam underneath was to weak. would suggest extra foam for more support or buy a quality product. October 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Replacement for "old tub" Had to change an old bathroom to remove tub and have a shower. This was a great purchase. Easy to install. Price point was better than other units that we looked at. July 15, 2014
