What type of drain should I be using. I used Sioux Chief
Model # 828-2PK but strainer body appears to be too small for the pan opening. Now I already have it installed but it's not centered.

I do not remember the drain size in numbers, but I removed a standard tub and the drain in the shower base was the same as the tub. Hope this helps.

Any of the shower drain assemblies should work. I am not sure what you mean by "the strainer body is too small for the opening"?

The specifications list the height as 5 in. and threshold as 4 in. Does that mean the overall height as one steps in is 9 inches?

Answer:
When you step from the floor into the shower, you lift your foot 4 inches, the threshhold height. When you install the shower base, you'll see a high rim around the sides and back, and this is the 5 inch height.

Sorry for the confusion.
The threshold height is 4 inches. if you set the base, and tile up to it, your step in height will be around 3.5 inches.

It is the same as a standard sized bath tub. I removed a tub and put the base in its place and it fit the same spot as the tub perfectly, even the drain.

Rick,
Currently this product is only available in 60x30 and 60x32 sizes. You will need to look into other material (acrylic, fiberglass or solid surface ) for bases that size.

Answer:
Hi kris, the information from Bootz Industries does not show that the floor of the base is textured only slip-resistant. It is shown to still maintain the smoothness and look of cast iron. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product Replaced an old tub with this product. Looks great and was the best price on the market. Better than the plastic materials that are out there now. June 10, 2016

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by LACK OF INSTRUCTIONS Pretty pan--but the guys--pros, had never seen anything like it (they'd done mortar base Vikrel) and NONE of us could figure out the 'pictures' nor LACK of instruction!! NONE COULD FIND ANY help!! DISAPPOINTED. August 19, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what we wanted! My husband and I are slowly renovating the bathrooms of our “new” home. From day one he had his heart set on a large shower, open shower; the only problem was that we could only find cheap, acrylic bases. We were planning on putting up ceramic tile, and a cheap plastic base was not the look we were going for, (it’s texture reminded me of what you would find in an old camper). He came across the ShowerCast online and it turned out to be everything we wanted. I looks great, is easy to clean, and has a beautiful porcelain finish that went great with the tile I picked out. Definitely one of our best Home Depot purchases! November 19, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not for us Easy to install and looked good but scratched floor in the 1st weekend of use. June 5, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I love the steel shower pan covered with porcelin. It looks like the same material the tub was made from that I removed and replaced with a walk in s It was so easy to install where the old tub was. Took the bathtub out, and put the shower pan in where the tub was. Fit perfect as did the drain for the shower. It is right where the tub drain was. February 17, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by bottom cracked after 2 years the bottom cracked.it leaked for a while before i noticed. it needed more support. the foam underneath was to weak. would suggest extra foam for more support or buy a quality product. October 16, 2014
