Reviews with a "1" are usually because the reviewer doesn't know how to use the tool. Reviews with a "5" are usually from reviewers who are either being nice or professionals, I think the former rather than the latter. Me? I am probably the tool abuser type because I usually use a tool in a way it was never intended to be used. I used the bit to drill (using a hammer drill) 5, 1/2" holes into 17 year old (cured by now) concrete. Then I chipped the concrete out between the the holes. Then I tried drilling out the anchor bolt. The bit worked as advertised to drill the concrete. However, I will tell you that this is not a bit that works well on drilling through a bolt. Yes, I turned the hammer drill dial to drill and changed between the high and low settings. Did I know what I was doing? No, was I suppose to? Oh! The second hole went much better. Why? I remembered why you drill pilot holes in metal before you drill out a 5/16" anchor bolt with a 1/2" carbide masonry bit. Anyway, I abused the bit on the fist hole and it gave me a second chance. These things are great. About the author: First ever tool review. Experience: Drilled (2) 1" holes in concrete foundation about 39 year ago.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bit would not cut concrete Purchased this cheap carbide tipped bit at HD for hammer drilling anchor holes in concrete. It cut about 1 inch then would not cut anymore. Looked at the bit tip an noted that it had completely been crushed and dulled. Must have hit a rock in the concrete it could not cut through. I then purchased the $20+ Bosch carbide tipped bit of the same 5/16 size and that one worked like cutting butter. You get what you pay for...
