Customer Questions & Answers

Do I need to use a hammer drill for this bit to work properly?

I am installing a pool cover which requires that I drill 20 holes 3/4 inch wide and 2 inches deep.

No will work with it

can this drill bit work on wood?

Asked by: ddiddler
It probably would, but it will make a rougher hole because it is carbide. It will probably chew the wood instead of cut it.

Can you use this bit in a regular drill (non-hammer)?

I just need to drill a 1" hole through some stone veneer and am wondering if I can use this bit in my regular drill since it will be such a small job.
Asked by: Doogie
You might be able to but hammer bits are meant to make big aggressive holes. I have not had a lot of luck with hammer bits and non-hammer drills.

Will this cut 1/8th inch steel plate? I need to drill apx. 85 holes

Asked by: Anonymous
No. It was designed for masonry not steel. The angle of the carbide is wrong for steel.

Had to drill 10 inches of concrete - knew I needed a better than average bit- Went to HD and saw this - Wow - Using a Makita drill on hammer setting - took maybe 10 seconds - it was like butter In all my years I've never seen a bit cut like this - the carbide end is really thick -

No power source to use a corded Hammer Drill. I chucked up the bit with lock tabs in between the chuck grippers of my cordless hammer drill. It worked well. The wall I was drilling through was preformed hardened concrete. The bit held up well and I will use it again. I am using multiple sized of the Bosch Masonry bits and I like the performance and lower cost. Well worth it.

I used to run security cameras through brick wall and the bit had no issue going through the brick as long as you use a hammer drill it will tunnel through. DOn't forget to lubricate and cool the bit as you make your holes the bit will keep working for you as long you treat it right. Bit will fit any 1/2 inch chuck with no issues it does not have to be a Bosch Drill I used it with a Dewalt
