Using bit on regular drill to bore soil samples on an archaelogical site. Rocky ground dictated a bit of this kind. It works very well! Just kidding on the "Con" below. Obviously this isn't the standard use of the bit. I don't think I've ever seen instructions with a bit.

We were happy that we could find that long and diameter of a drill bit. I would recommend to anyone who need to find these rare items check with Home Depot.

I needed a masonry bit in order to install ground rods for an electrical service. The concrete was over 30 years old and extremely hard. It was also about 9 inches thick. The drill bit along with my bosch hammer drill performed flawlessly.

This large masonry drill bit is 18 inches long and cuts a one-inch diameter hole in brick, concrete or cinder block.
I had a job to run a 5/8" gas line through a brick and cement block wall. The 18 inch long bit was just enough and took about 4 minutes to make the hole. This in one tough piece of metal. I am sure it will still be cutting holes through concrete for many years hence.
