Wire Wheel Attachment

Can you use the grinder without the guard? Can you attach a wire wheel to the grinder?
Asked by: Harvey
Thank you for your question. You can use a 4" wire wheel with the AG50-11VS grinder. If using a wire wheel you need to use the Type 27 grinding guard.

Customer Reviews

11 Amp 5 in. Corded Variable Speed Angle Grinder is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best overall grinder I have used in 20+ years By far the best grinder I have used for general grinding tasks for the past 20+ years. The availability of products that fit and are easily used with this grinder make it so versatile that no contractor should be without at least one! The variable speed is awesome and the ability to rotate motor body 90degrees to locate locking switch to top of grinder makes it safer and easier to control in tight spaces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Variable speed rocks I purchased this tool because I was tired of switching disc out as need when fabricating . well I'm sold on the VS it enables you to tune the speed for the abrasive used , much better control , especially for fine work. the on switch / lock is hard for me to turn on with a one handed tool hold . but is easy to click off from the locked position .it becomes natural right away , after some use I prefer it to my older "paddle switch " grinder. time to buy a 2nd VS

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than average Very powerful, high noise range, and bulky for one hand. Good for hardcore grinding and getting the tough jobs done. I wasn't very fond of the on and off locking switch as it was difficult to use one-handed. It locks in the on position too easily and is hard to unlock.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Have concerns Bought this grinder based on past good history with Bosch tools and the need for a variable speed grinder. When adjusted to the lowest speed setting, the grinder will kick into its highest speed. While this can be avoided by not setting the speed to the lowest setting, it can be annoying and should not occur. My main concern is the sound of the grinder. The grinder gearing sounds a little harsh, like the gears are dry, unlike my constant speed grinder.  Hopefully, this will not be an issue, and I will get good service life out of this grinder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than more expensive names I wanna clear up a few things I've read in some other reviews. I weld for a living and this grinder runs most of the day. It's made in Malaysia, not Germany, the speed dial is not microscopic, it's small but doesn't get in ur way or get moved accidentally. I got the side switch model, not the paddle because it's awkward. This is a tough grinder! Soft start and it quits wen it needs brushes. Bosch customer service is the best on earth, that's not my opinion either, don't believe me? Call them and find out for yourself. I've bought other brands before and thought a big name brand would stand behind their stuff, well all of them won't, Bosch will! I've called several times and every single time it ended with me being surprised and extremely satisfied. Variable speed is a great option on a grinder, this is about as close to the perfect tool as a man can own..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Variable speed is wonderful I needed a variable speed grinder for sharpening different metal types. This grinder works incredibly well for all of the different tools we need to maintain. I'm incredibly happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Variable Speed Dial Poor Design In general I was looking for a variable speed grinder that was easy to hold, and easy to change blades and grinders. I generally like Bosch tools and bought the best I could find. I bought this variable speed model to grind and polish some granite and stone, and to occasionally work on some metal. I would give this a 5 for power, but I only gave this a four because of the variable speed dial design. First of all, I could not find the dial! There is no mention of it in the operating instructions. I had to call Bosch and ask the tech rep who said it was right next to the power cord. Sure enough, if you turn it over and look really close, there is a tiny little recessed dial sunk into the body. I never would have found it! I told her there were no calibration numbers on the dial to determine RPM's. Then I took it over to a strong light, used a magnifying glass and saw that as you turned the dial there was a microscopic number printed with black ink on a red dial, showing 1-6. Come on! The second that gets covered with granite dust you will never see those numbers again. Give me great big white numbers on a black background and recess them so they won't wear off. At least on other brands of grinders there is a little sticker on the side showing RPM vs number. Here there was nothing. Who designs these things? Anyway, as I use it for a while longer I may up- date the review. Yes, I understand that most of the angle grinders have the same dial (now that I've looked on the web,) but it is no excuse. RPM's is important when working with stone and there should be a nice BIG display that shows you exactly what speed you are running.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from smooth as silk This thing cuts so good and runs so smooth I bought one more. I have three 4.5 inch grinders that are good grinders, but are not in the same league as this one. Being able to set the speed to the job is a nice feature. If you don't have one, get one.
