Yes it comes with a case. It is a pretty big case that can fit both bases, the motor, and some accessories (wrenches, collet, dust collection, etc).

Answer: 
The "Plunge" permits you to do the "Groove" and the tongue can be mastered by setting the Height of the router to the face of the tongue board, to it's desired depth on both faces. Pallet boards MAY be a little rough due its wood nature not to conform to a precise cut with smooth edges.....

Thank you for your question. Yes, the Bosch 1617EVSPK router will work well for cutting tongue and groove applications. It is recommended to use a router table when cutting tongue and grooves. The 1617EVSPK fixed base can be mounted to a router table.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built and easy to use It's a well made router. It performs very well, it's easy to handle, and it has enough power to handle the tougher species of wood. The clear plastic shield can collect dust and make it hard to see sometimes when working freehand, but a coat of good wax every now and then stops that. I bought a 1611 EVS when they first came out on the market many years ago and it works as well today as it did when it was new! I expect the same experience from this one. In other words, I see the same level of quality built into the 1617EVSPK as I did when I bought the 1611EVS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong, Reliable, Dependable I used this router for over 8 years. While working in construction as a finish carpenter, I saw and borrowed several different routers. For me, NOTHING compared to this router. There wasn't a job that i did that it couldn't handle. I had multiple jobs that i used it for from simple rounding over the edge to full out raised panels. When it came to flutting, and i did a lot of it, this router is the easiest to hold and manage. After doing several 8ft columns and two mantels with a few custom flutted cased windows and doors, at the end of the day, i was still able to grip it again for those last minute detail work.

It has plenty of power, and the RPM adjustment is very useful. I also mounted this to a router table with no issues. The fine tune adjustment with an Allen wrench is helpful. Its slow start is an added benefit too. All grips are comfortable during hand use.

Only thing, it didn't come with the 1/4" collet like it said it should, but i contact Bosch and they sent it to me. Great customer service is worth the extra money spent on the tool.

The combination of fixed and plunge make it so that it will do everything one could want a router to do. I especially like the wooden handles. There is something about the wood that appeals to me.
