The RH540S 1-9/16 in. Spline Combination Hammer from Bosch provides maximum productivity in all day drilling and chiseling applications. Thank you for your question. The RH540S has a 12 amp motor and accepts Spline bits. We also offer the RH540M which is the same rotary hammer as the RH540S however it accepts SDS-Max bits.

I am wondering what is the difference between the RH540M and the RH540S

The RH540S has vario-lock positioning rotates and locks chisel into 12 different positions to optimize working angle and the RH540M has a 20 plus 1 clutch settings perfect torque adjustments for precise screw driving.

Answer: 
Thank you for your question. The only difference is the bit/accessory holder. The RH540M accepts SDS-Max shank accessories and the RH540S accepts Spline shank accessories. Otherwise both tools are identical as far as features, power and specifications.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good drill, specs are incorrect! It Does NOT have forward switch and reverse switch Good drill, specs are incorrect! It does NOT have a forward switch and a reverse switch. I used the "compare product selection" on the Home Depot web site ..it states that both the Milwaukee and the Bosch have " forward switch and reverse switch". The drill I purchased only has forward. The reverse option was a big reason i choose this tool. October 28, 2014
