Thank you for your question. The 1640VS is designed to cut wood and plastic products. We would recommend using an oscillating tool with a carbide plunge cut blade like OSC34C. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Bosch-3-4-in-Carbide-Plunge-Oscillating-Blade-OSC34C/205187800

120-Volt 5/8 in. Power Fine Cut Saw is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from "Step aside hand saws" This saw is well suited for under cutting door jams and making intricate cuts in laminate flooring. An excellent value. I hope future saws will have a longer stroke and come with a carbide blade.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nothing else comes close If you want to undercut door jambs and similar irritating low level jobs, this tool gets it done. It's not fast and the blades aren't carbide but it works and it keeps on going.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly designed I like the idea of this saw but it does not work well for me. I have used it several times and each time the blade came off and I had to reinstall it. I am putting it on correctly, but it does not seem able to stay in place during use. If not for this major design flaw it would be a very good tool. It barely runs before the blade comes off, that is why I regret buying this tool and wish that I had taken it back to the store. It is a waste of money

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tool I have tool for years and it is indispensable when it comes to doing flooring. I use it for cutting jambs, doorstops, door casing or any other obsticle in your way that only can only be cut with a hand saw. Multi tools are ok but this saw gets the job done quicker with more precision

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love it Had mine for three you. Wish my employees worked that smooth

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great I see in one review there is a stated lack of power..... I find to the contrary. It has adjustable speed, which I rarely ever use the higher ranges. Maybe that reviewer was not aware of the knob and it was down to a low power setting? And the blade has never fell off, ever. The light is also a nice touch. The blade is reversible for left or right cuts. The blades are pricey, BUT last a long time. I have undercut about 50 doorways with it and it is finally getting noticeably slower at cutting. Definitely more than $15 worth of cutting (blade cost)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from hard to find replacement blades Trying to find replacement blades is difficult. Not great at trimming work. better off buying a Miter Saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fine trim cutting saw Had this saw almost 10 years and it is the go to tool for all my jamb and casing trim work when installing floors and cabinets. I also use it when installing new windows or exterior casings to trim back shingles or clapboards to fit a larger size opening.
