I got this sander because it had less vibration over the old sander ( an old PC orbit sander ). Besides the less vibration, it had a good sense of handling the sanding job. A very nice tool to use. It was a bit expensive, but it seems you have to spend more these days to get excellent tools.

I bought this sander based on a Fine Wordworking review, and am thrilled with it. I have peripheral neuropathy, and vibrating tools are killers for me. This tool is so smooth that it caused me no problems at all after sanding 140 square feet of basswood. The boards I was working on vibrated much more than the tool! Plus it was very fast, easy to control, and the dust catcher worked to perfection. Get this tool even if you don't need the vibration damping feature. Also, get the 6" model, not the 5". It doesn't sound like much of a difference, but the 6" gives you 40% more sanding area, so the discs last a lot longer. If your local store doesn't carry the Bosch discs, the Diablo discs with lots of holes work just fine.

Very nice tool which is truly vibration free (or only minimal vibration) and the dust collection system is absolutely superb - better than having a dedicated vacuum attachment to the too.
You have to use the Bosch "6-hole" pads to take advantage of the superb dust collection capability - I could only find these at Amazon - of course Home Depot doesn't carry them - instead offering some cheap alternative that doesn't work nearly as well. Oh well - Amazon comes through (again).
I would but this tool again - but please note that this thing is NOT a finish sander - to get that fine finish you are going to have to go to a pad sander. But if you want to do some 120 grit "knock down" sanding - this is a great tool - quick, powerful, vibration and dust free.
The "Tiger Tank" of rotary sanders - blows all the others away ;-))

I have several orbital sanders. Over the years I have found while working on large projects it was easier to just grab another sander with the right grit and keep working. When I read the reviews on this sander I was more than skeptical. But it's only money and if this tool would save as much time as they promised.
I hate to say it but now I am back to changing discs. My other sanders sit while I use the "Big Guy" - at 64 vibration means a lot to my hands, and this is the best sander I have ever bought. I keep thinking maybe I should buy another one just so I don't have to change discs as often. Most of my projects are 60" and larger. Sand down one table with this sander and the discussion is over.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BigG Best sander I've ever owned
This is the best sander on the market. When coupled with a simple "shop" type vacuum, this sander is virtually dustless. Sanding pattern is great, power is great... I could go on..
The biggest feature of this sander is the vibration reduction. Using my old sander(s), after a day of sanding (I build furniture) my hands would be numb. I thought the anti-vibe stuff was a gimmick - it's not.. I can sand for hours and hours with no ill effect.
After about a month with this sander, I sold/donated my other RO sanders. This is all I use. Planning on picking up the 1/2 sheet version at some point soon.
If it had a square pad as an option, that would be cool.

I bought this to grind the old paint off old windows in our house.. The power and speed made this a effortless project, and I was painting my windows before I knew it.

This is absolutely the best ROS I have ever used. It is quiet enough to talk over and the vibration is very low in comparison. Also, I really like the fact it is heavier (real metal) as it sands with not adding slight pressure. The method of having a canister filter is a good one as it is very easy to empty and go back to sanding. If I have a large area to sand I can switch form the 5" pad to the 6" pad. The ROS65VC is well worth the difference in price.

I have used a PC for over 10 years and tried to replace with the latest model. First one was terrible. Grabbed the work frequently, left scratches. Replace with another and it did the same. Finally got wise and bought the Bosch and I found I was missing easy to control, very low vibration and perfect sanding. I even tried the same sanding disc as on the PC and the Bosch still ran perfectly. I really like the sawdust control. Very small amount not collected, and am not using the dust mask with it. Really simple to clean the collected dust by unscrewing the cap end and tapping gently on the edge of waste container, screw back into housing. I never really liked sanding, but it is a pleasant task that gives beautiful results. Recommend this sander? Absolutely!
