Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jeremy Beautiful. Engineering Masterpiece. Amazing Form Factor. The Porsche of Miter Saws. Won't Cut Straight.
This was my dream saw. The first one wouldn't cut straight, leaving teeth-marks down the length of the board. I calibrated it. I tried to get it fixed at an authorized service center to no avail. I exchanged it for a second saw. Same exact problem! Called Bosch. No help. I'll be returning this one too. I hated to do this--it's like trading a Porsche for a Volvo--but I bought a nice Dewalt and, though it's not pretty and takes up the majority of my two-car garage, it cuts perfectly. I'm so flippin' bummed. 2 saws , 2 setups, 2 calibrations, and 3 blades later, I've had it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nawm444 Smooth, accurate, great saw!
This new design of sliding, compound miter saw allows for much reduced space behind the saw, which is great for constructing a built in set up on a shop bench with extended fences, without needing to cut a hole in the wall behind to allow for the sliding rails of most saws. The only other saw with such a feature I know of is the Festool Kapex, and that saw is almost 3 times as much money, and is in 10 inch only, I think. Needless to say, the features of this saw, with the increased capacity the 12 inch blade allows makes this an amazing deal for less than $700. The only trade off I can see is more plastic parts than are on the Festool, and the adjustable throat plates don't adjust far enough to get anywhere near a true zero clearance to prevent blow out on the back of the wood, but I believe there are aftermarket zero clearance inserts that can be purchased. Either that, or I will make one myself. Have been using the saw on a large deck project, and no problems have been experienced at all. One small complaint, the adjustable hold down is a nice feature, but the star nut on the top is not very ergonomic, and the threading is so fine, it takes forever to adjust it. I may design my own "quick clamp" style hold down to replace the factory one. Works okay once adjusted, just not a quick or easy feature to use.
Also, came well calibrated from the factory. I went through all of the set up checks to be sure everything was accurate, and did not have to make any adjustments.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bill I looked long and hard and even bought the Milwaukee 6955-20 before I wound up with the Bosch
When I bought the Milwaukee, the blade wasn't 90 deg. from the deck. I tried the Owner's Manual instructions for adjusting it and got nowhere. Then I called Customer Service and was informed that this adjustment should actually be performed by an Authorized Service Center. My local Service Center said I was at least a two weeks away from getting it done.
This was way too long before I could use my new tool? I did like the digital display and it was accurate but time to move on.
Talked with Home Depot's 800 number and got them to match an online price for the Bosch. Picked it up in a couple of days and wow! everything was dead on. That was 2 1/2 years ago and it's still dead on. Awesome!

I wouldn't even use this saw to build a dog house.
I'm a cabinet maker and thought this would be a great addition to my shops limited space (WRONG)
My 50 year old craftsmen radial arm saw put this piece of junk to shame.
I'm just glad for the hassle free return policy Home Depot has.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by MJ Not what I thought it would be
I was excited to buy and use this saw coming from a dewalt 10 in saw. It was great for the first two weeks.. After that with each cut and as the saw warmed up there was a clicking noise coming from the bearing housing that supports the blade When the blade was slowing down after a cut. I thought it was normal and ignored it but it got louder as time and days went on. Checked for pieces of wood in belt area, none found. On top of that I was putting a 5 degree bevel on a piece of 1x10 pine. It was out of square on the far end from the fence about 3 degrees. Tried everything nothing helped so I returned it and ordered a Milwaukee hope it turns out better

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NCG Miter detents are not correct, Not for anyone requiring accuracy
I'm trying to figure out how this saw gets good reviews. I challenge anyone with this saw to check the accuracy of the 45 degree detents. After fine tuning the detent plate - it should cut square on both sides of the blade. Right? (mine cut square on left side of blade but not right side). Next, I checked the 45 degree detents by cutting a 45 degree miter on 2 pieces of 5" wide stock. (cut on both sides of blade).
The miters are not 45 degrees - (2) 45 degree miters should make a 90 degree corner, but holding these pieces against an accurate square the inside of the joint has approx. 1/16" gap. Bosch customer service sent me 2 new fences, and a new detent plate. These did nothing to fix the problem. I returned the saw for another GCM12SD. Sadly, this second saw was exactly the same. Bosch customer service would like me to take the second saw to a repair center or return it for another brand. In fact - while on the phone with a customer service agent they told me to go buy another brand.... and that this saw might not be accurate enough to make a picture frame. (they seemed very unwilling to help and basically wanted to get me off the phone) Bosch is also unwilling to check if there is a production run error in the detent plate (like I requested). I'm guessing they (GCM12SD) aren't all like this, but maybe a slight change in the factory in China has taken place.?.? Who Knows
I do know, without a doubt that the 2 saws had the same major issues right out of the box and sending a brand new saw to get repaired is ridiculous - i'll be returning the second saw.
