Rick,
I'm not sure whether a plastic storage case is available, however mine did not. Since I have dozens of storage cases stacked up and find that I do not use them. I have a power tool cabinet that I built that protects them much better and is easy to transport to the job site or roll around my shop.

Unfortunately not, Rick. And for a saw this 'pricey' (comparitively speaking), a case, even for a few dollars more, would offer some protection for this investment.

Joe, your intuition is on target. I just weighed mine and it clocks in at 11.0 lbs even. That's a shame to list misinformation like that (clearly a mistake), because the CS5 is considerably lighter than my previous saw (and a whole lot quieter, too). Hope this helps. It's a great tool.

Timmy,
The saw uses 100 Volt AC current. As advertised, it draws 15 amperes. So I would not recommend using it on a circuit that has many tools or smaller gauge wire on it.

Answer:
Yes, I believe the blade's rotation is reversed but all you need to do is align the blade manufacturer's arrow with the saw's arrow indicating direction of rotation. The blade's label may be facing inward (unreadable when mounted), but it will work just the same as long as its intended rotation direction aligns with saw's.

Richard, thanks for your response.
I did flip my new blade on my left-hand drive saw, and it works just fine. I guess the rule of thumb is right hand drive => counterclockwise, left hand drive => counterclockwise. I just wasn't sure if there was anything more complicated, and it seems not to be the case.

Answer:
The blade on either left or right are mounted the same. That's to say, all circular saws cut 'up' with the teeth of the blade pointing upwards and entering the work piece from the bottom. And as for the 'clockwise rotation of the blade', that just depends on which side of the saw you're looking at.

Thank you for your question. When installing a blade on the CS5, Make sure the saw teeth and arrow on the blade point in the same direction as the arrow
on the lower guard.

15-Amp 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best left-hand blade circular saw able to be found. Now that Black and Decker owns and manufacturers most of the power tools on the market, it is difficult to find what a woodworker/contractor wants. I bought the Bosch because it was only one of the four manufacturers that I found that make a left-hand blade circular saw. And because of previous purchases I knew what I hoped was the quality. It is an excellent tool with fair good accuracy and lots of power. Only two things that I had issues with. First the trigger switch is quite strong and for one with moderate arthritis it is difficult. Secondly, it does not have a very good exhaust port for sawdust. In both cases my old Porter Cable was much better. Only one other issue: it is about 8 ounces heavier than advertised. Alas, Porter Cable is now owned by B&D and the quality is not very good... and they don't make one anymore. The Bosch is the way to go!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Bosch CS5 circular saw delivers a quality product we've come to expect from Bosch Tools. I was intrigued by the Left-blade design on this saw. With as much sawdust that any circular saw kicks up, I know the importance of a clear line of sight for both safety and accuracy. The Bosch CS5 has a 'gentle' start, a plus for fatigued wrists, and the 15 amp motor runs much quieter than my old 12 amp. When making cross-cuts using a speed square, the advantage of the left-blade design becomes apparent--since the blade is closer to the square, all important clamping can be done closer to the cut line without getting in the way. The anti-snag lower guard allows truly one handed operation during a cut. One drawback though; the left-blade design requires the saw dust port to be on the left side, so expect a tool belt full of sawdust. And, a power tool of this caliber & price should come with a case. Overall, I'm very pleased with the features and performance of the Bosch CS5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from greatest features available Saw was purchased as gift for my son who related his satisfaction with one owned by a friend. When questioned regarding his satisfaction with his gift, he couldn't praise the features enough -- especially the ability to see the line to be cut because of the locatiin of the blade for right-handed woodworkers! The price of this saw is notably higher than other brands, but well worth the price difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Buy I purchased this saw to replace a 32-year old Black and Decker. Granted - that's like comparing a 1980 Chevy Vega to a 2013 Chevy Cruze, but the difference is huge. The trigger mechanism is easy to use, so are the saw blade height and angle adjustments. It has a great guide in front to show the kerf of your cut and has a very good anti-kickback mechanism. Its motor is also comparatively quiet. It is also has a left side blade, which is great for me because I am left handed - that may be a big consideration for the majority of people who are right handed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool I. Have used this saw to redo a bathroom and it has performed flawlessly. I have used it for framing and trim, and it cut through 2x4s effortlessly and makes nice smooth cuts through trim. The left blade design is an awesome feature and this saw comes with a blade which is a great blade. I would definitely recommend this tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tool and Design I bought this saw since I couldn't easily move my table saw to a remote cabinet job. I was very impressed with the smoothness and quality of the saw. I big plus using a circular saw with an edge guide is the left-sided blade. I'm very happy with the comfort and function of this tool and would highly recommend it.
