Customer Questions & Answers

Motor Reliability - Is there a known issue with the 15-AMP motor

Of all the table saws I've researched I really like this Bosch 4100 model, however the one issue I've read about is with the reliability of the 15-AMP motor used, which is now the only thing keeping me from buying it. I do understand that with any mass-produced products (cars, tools, etc) there will be some number of quality related issues. So the question is this - Is there a relatively significant number of reported issues with the motor that is used for this table saw, and if so what is Bosch doing to address the issue(s). A response would be helpful and appreciated. The question going unanswered would like lead me to purchase a Delta's product. Regards
Asked by: Ron
I've had my Bosch 4100 saw for about 4 years and up to today it has been a good performer. It has been gently used by an intermediate DIYer, and very well cared for. I replaced the stock blade with a high quality blade. Today the motor started running slow and backwards --- in the middle of ripping 3/8 plywood! Checked internet and found this is not uncommon and I ordered a replacement field winding from Bosch ($69 delivered). The Bosch folks indicated this is a known problem. Very disappointing for an expensive work tool. If I had it to do again, I would get the DeWalt.

Does this saw come with the digital readout on the fence that is shown in the video or is that an accessory, if so how reliable is it?
Asked by: PMH
Thank you for your question. The 4100-09 does not come with the digital display on the rip fence. The DC010 was the part number, unfortunately, it is no longer available. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from M-F 7a-7p CST.

15 Amp Corded 10 in. Worksite Table Saw with Gravity Rise Wheeled Stand is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 297.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top of the line! Reviewed, debated, compared and finally decided on the Bosch table saw. it came down to this or dewalt. I read several reviews on both and was aware of a few having motor issues, bearings etc. of the bosch but with readily available supplies to repair it was no problem for me. love every aspect of the Bosch but the biggest deciding factor for me was that Bosch themselves took the time to answer questions on this home depot site. no other company that I've seen does that. buying a quality product and having the support of the company step up like they did. Done!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Motor will not start Used maybe 5 times for small jobs since July 2016, tried to use it April 2017 and the motor will not spin, just little jogs. Internet search turned up instances of motor speed control/field winding problems. Since there is not service depot in Ottawa, it has to be shipped 350km to Vaughn ON (Bosch is paying since it is <12 months, after that you're on your own). There was no warning that anything was about to break, it worked perfectly 2 months ago. Now it is a big paperweight.

This saw is a dream to transport and set up - however I have put less than 20 hours of time on it, and it's blown two power supplies. The first was immediately after purchase, and the latest happened a couple months after the one year warranty expired. I'm a home user and certainly pushing it far less than many of the pros who have weighed in, so hopefully this is an anomaly - but I can only review based off of what I know. I paid a premium for the Bosch name and the implied reliability, and unlike my Bosch circular saw, this thing has been nothing but a lemon. I'm really bummed to have thrown away nearly $600 on this thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bosch 4100-09 10 In Worksite Saw I have been using this table saw for several years now. Never once has it disappointed me. This saw is a reliable powerhouse thats easy to move and rarely needs alignment. The pneumatic tires and easy fold carrier/table make setting up on a difficult muddy job site effortless. I have added the table top extensions to it which are great for working with larger dimensional materials but are not 100% necessary. The dust collection system works very well to keep a clean work station. After 5 years of operation in the workshop and in less ideal conditions I have not one complaint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Accurate I've had this saw for six months now and it was pretty accurate out of the box with a little fine tuning it's within 1/64 using the measurements on the saw. Fence is also very nice much more sturdy than rack and pinion of competitors and never a single issue with it not staying square. Power has not been an issue, softwood, hardwood, plywood it cuts them all with soft start and a lower no load rpm than other saws it cuts smooth and without vibration. Gravity rise stand keeps set up and breakdown quick and easy and mobility through almost any terrain easier than any other on the market. I've used pretty much all the jobsite saws in this class and I gotta say there is a reason this saw has been on the market as long as it has......Bosch got it right on this one.

For the life of me I cannot get the fence completely straight unless i measure one side, and then measure the other and adjust every time I move it. its always 1/16-1/8 off from one end to the other. Took a few projects to figure this out. I've tried to adjust it every possible way but there is too much play in the end of the fence. At $600 bucks there are better options.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this saw, needs angle adjustment screw This saw was "Dead On" accurate. I made an entertainment center with it. Plenty of power. Crosscut and Ripped Pine, Oak, and Plywood with no problem. The only thing is that the blade angle could use a screw adjustment for more accuracy with angles. I needed to cut a 5.7 degree rabbet in oak for a truck bed plank.
