Customer Questions & Answers

Motor Reliability - Is there a known issue with the 15-AMP motor

Of all the table saws I've researched I really like this Bosch 4100 model, however the one issue I've read about is with the reliability of the 15-AMP motor used, which is now the only thing keeping me from buying it. I do understand that with any mass-produced products (cars, tools, etc) there will be some number of quality related issues. So the question is this - Is there a relatively significant number of reported issues with the motor that is used for this table saw, and if so what is Bosch doing to address the issue(s). A response would be helpful and appreciated. The question going unanswered would like lead me to purchase a Delta's product. Regards

I've had my Bosch 4100 saw for about 4 years and up to today it has been a good performer. It has been gently used by an intermediate DIYer, and very well cared for. I replaced the stock blade with a high quality blade. Today the motor started running slow and backwards --- in the middle of ripping 3/8 plywood! Checked internet and found this is not uncommon and I ordered a replacement field winding from Bosch ($69 delivered). The Bosch folks indicated this is a known problem. Very disappointing for an expensive work tool. If I had it to do again, I would get the DeWalt.

Yes and it will accept a full 3/4" set. You need an insert as well.

Customer Reviews

15 Amp Corded 10 in. Worksite Table Saw with Gravity Rise Wheeled Stand is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 286.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top of the line! Reviewed, debated, compared and finally decided on the Bosch table saw. it came down to this or dewalt. I read several reviews on both and was aware of a few having motor issues, bearings etc. of the bosch but with readily available supplies to repair it was no problem for me. love every aspect of the Bosch but the biggest deciding factor for me was that Bosch themselves took the time to answer questions on this home depot site. no other company that I've seen does that. buying a quality product and having the support of the company step up like they did. Done!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Motor will not start Used maybe 5 times for small jobs since July 2016, tried to use it April 2017 and the motor will not spin, just little jogs. Internet search turned up instances of motor speed control/field winding problems. Since there is not service depot in Ottawa, it has to be shipped 350km to Vaughn ON (Bosch is paying since it is <12 months, after that you're on your own). There was no warning that anything was about to break, it worked perfectly 2 months ago. Now it is a big paperweight.

This saw is a dream to transport and set up - however I have put less than 20 hours of time on it, and it's blown two power supplies. The first was immediately after purchase, and the latest happened a couple months after the one year warranty expired. I'm a home user and certainly pushing it far less than many of the pros who have weighed in, so hopefully this is an anomaly - but I can only review based off of what I know. I paid a premium for the Bosch name and the implied reliability, and unlike my Bosch circular saw, this thing has been nothing but a lemon. I'm really bummed to have thrown away nearly $600 on this thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I've worked with,,,!!! I burned up two Orange ones before I said "NO MORE". Wasn't worth the 50 miles I had to drive for repair of lifetime warranty. Then comes the Bosch and the rest is history. I put a 60 tooth Bosch blade on it and it's been a power house. Has ripped everything I've put through it, and I live in hardwood country. I'll admit that the sawdust port could be more efficient but no portable saw is great in that area. I'm more concerned with the motor performance and consistency. Solid built and easy to transport. Every carpenter should have a good broom for saw dust,, and it makes plenty. I would buy another one tomorrow if this one quit today. etc., etc.,.. This was my first Bosch power tool but it won't be my last. It costs a few more dollars but "it works" and you don't waste time driving back and forth to the "lifetime warranty" fix it store. Highly recommend this saw to anyone.

There are several things I really like about the Bosch Job Site Saw 4100-09. The stand is very easy to manage in that it can be set-up and collapsed with very little effort even though the saw is not light. I really like the on-board storage of all the accessories as well as a place for an extra saw blade or two. This saw is some what lighter than its competitors making it a little easier to move around the shop or job site. The fence is very accurate and needs little adjustment to be parallel to the blade. With a 15 amp motor it has more than enough power for most jobs. I do wish the fence control mechanism had rack and pinion control for more accuracy and that the wheels for the stand were bigger for rolling out on job sites with mussy ground. I did a video review that will give you more insights into this saw:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I had a table saw for 30 years and it worked fine until lately the pulley kept falling off. I got tired fixing it so I went shopping for a new one and after reading many reviews, I decided on getting the Bosch and I'm glad I did my homework. This is an excellent saw that will last another 30 years (although I probably won' It makes very accurate cuts and had lots of power. I ran 5/8 in OSB through it as fast and I wanted to push and it didn't even slow down!! My old one would have been choking at half the speed. I also love that all the accessories, blades, push stick etc. has a place to be stored right on the saw so they are always handy when needed. Also the stand is very easy to use once you get used to it. I highly recommend this saw. The only thing I didn't like is that a bit of dust escapes even though I had it connected to my shop vac.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for its intended purpose I bought this due to downsizing to replace my 20 year old Delta Unisaw. So far I've only used it on sheet material but for that it was good. No where near the cutting power of the old unisaw but I think it will be just what I need for 90% of my needs. Probably not the best for long 2x rips but it should get the job done. I really like the stand and portability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this saw, needs angle adjustment screw This saw was "Dead On" accurate. I made an entertainment center with it. Plenty of power. Crosscut and Ripped Pine, Oak, and Plywood with no problem. The only thing is that the blade angle could use a screw adjustment for more accuracy with angles. I needed to cut a 5.7 degree rabbet in oak for a truck bed plank.
