This saw has no light no laser??

Asked by: RAT
That is correct. I believe this feature is the only thing keeping this saw from being 5 star worthy.

Is there an adjustment for the depth of cut, for such purposes as making a dado or kerf cut?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. There is a depth stop that can be used.

Where is this saw manufactured?

Asked by: Anonymous
This product is made in China, as most power tools are (even the professional grade). I especially like the Bosch official response. I know that the quality aspect is very important, however Chinese products have consistently not lived up to the standards of other countries such as USA, Germany, or even Japan. For me, I do expect quality in my tools, but the fact that the production work has been removed from the United States is upsetting. For this reason, I personally shop for products made in the USA. I expect that the US jobs aspect is the reason this question was asked and is frequently asked about almost every tool.

Customer Reviews

15 Amp Corded 12 in. Dual-Bevel Glide Miter Saw with 60-Tooth Blade is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 250.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bit of kit! I have a older Bosch 3914 that still does the job but having a 10" blade greatly restricts my ability to do built up crown moulding with butter cuts. I too depend on my tools to do the job and consider each purchase as an investment in my company. I finally made the jump to this saw. There's a learning curve as you read the manual (Bosch manuals are among the best since they are written by humans to be read by humans) and experiment with the various controls. All the locks are red for easy identification. Do several different cuts before you start into doing any production cuts. Before you do any production cuts make sure the saw is spot on. Get out your combination square and make sure the table is true to the blade, etc so you will get the highest quality cuts. This saw enables the beginner to make master carpenter cuts because of the ability to set the saw up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has done everything I have wanted it to do. I received this for Christmas. Unlike most years, Santa was really good to me this year. This saw is engineered well. I have no complaints. Love wall hugging design. Also bought the gravity stand for mobility. The saw is very heavy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Small or Large Job After doing research for my first ever miter saw, I came to this Bosch Dual Bevel Glide Miter Saw for my final purchase. What sold me on this saw was not just one feature but many and with continual use, other features will probably stand out as well. Pros: First, the dual bevel feature and the way the saw glides on each cut was a must to have when working with limited space. Thus, because of this system the dual bevel operation could possibly be the most accurate cutting miter saw on the market. Second, the extension on the saw that increased the work surface was exactly what I was looking for so that I could mount it on a mobile cart and still stay compact. The left and right hand safety trigger was not a selling point for me, but now after using the saw it is a must for work flow ergonomics and safety. The versatility of a 12" blade to cut large 4' x 4' and the adjustability in about every area of the saw allows the user to always have consistent cuts. The fence has 2 parts, the upper and the lower one that is connected to the base of the work area. This allows you to extend the upper fence when needed and still have a narrow lower secure backing that allows for more accurate non-binding cuts. The fence measurement lines make rough cutting a whole lot faster than marking it with a sharpie pen. Cons: So far I have only found two minor ones. Depending on each person's setup, the dust collection system is a unique size and does have to have an adapter to fit any non Bosch shop vacuum. Not an issue yet and it might not be one, but.... I wish the saw came with a zero tolerance strong plastic insert. For the adjustable one that comes with the saw is nice and closes the gap REALLY well, but could be an issue when cutting smaller more fragile material. I would recommend anyone to buy this saw novice or pro. It has excellent value for all the engineering that went into make this miter saw. If you want your saw to last and still function like the day you bought it, this saw is for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful design Zero clearance feature makes this one of the best Miter saws. I cut all kinds of wood including 82" hard maple and it handles everything I can throw at it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I do not recommend buying this saw Those of you familiar with superior Bosch quality will be disappointed by this saw - it is well-designed but poorly made. The blade is poorly aligned with the direction of travel, such that the back of the blade does not follow the front, and you can't cut a straight line over the full length of travel. When I spotted this defect, I sent the saw back and got another one. The second one was better, but had the same problem: about 0.022" misalignment over the width of the blade. I contacted Bosch tech support; they checked and told me that misalignment tolerance on the saw is 0.8 mm (~0.032"). That's 1/32 of an inch! an expensive saw like this should cut straighter than that! I also found that the saw turntable was not level with one side of the cast table (it was fine on the first saw) and the 45 degree mitre detent was off by about 1-1/2 degrees on both saws. The differences between the saws suggests that Bosch has some serious QA problems with the manufacturing. Unlike saws by other manufacturers, this one has a lot of play in the arbor bearing. With the saw unplugged you can wiggle the saw blade from side to side easily with your finger. Bosch say their tolerance for run out is 0.3 mm, which again is surprisingly poor. On the positive side, the saw is easy to use, and the controls are well laid out. The saw uses articulated arms instead of rails which saves at least 12 inches clearance behind the saw, which is the reason I bought it - and will keep it - in my small shop, mounted on a 24" deep counter. I only wish that the saw was better made and up to the quality of my other Bosch tools. Be warned: this is not a tool for serious woodworkers. -and a postscript: Bosch Customer Service is unresponsive in Canada; phone calls and e-mails to them went unanswered. I had to go to U.S. Customer Service for help.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great The 12" saw is great! I have an older 10" which I really like, but the new 10" saws are having some problems cutting straight. (at least 50% of them from what I have seen on other sites). Bosch has great features and functions really well for the general contractor. I use it for everything inside and out and am completely satisfied. It is heavy and the dust control isn't the best, but that doesn't really bother me. Great saw.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beautiful. Engineering Masterpiece. Amazing Form Factor. The Porsche of Miter Saws. Won't Cut Straight. This was my dream saw. The first one wouldn't cut straight, leaving teeth-marks down the length of the board. I calibrated it. I tried to get it fixed at an authorized service center to no avail. I exchanged it for a second saw. Same exact problem! Called Bosch. No help. I'll be returning this one too. I hated to do this--it's like trading a Porsche for a Volvo--but I bought a nice Dewalt and, though it's not pretty and takes up the majority of my two-car garage, it cuts perfectly. I'm so flippin' bummed. 2 saws , 2 setups, 2 calibrations, and 3 blades later, I've had it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best saw I've used This is the best saw I have ever used! The glide is super smooth, even when cutting on a bevel where other saws may start to bind. I love the gravity rise stand as well, setting up is a breeze. After using this saw, I can't go back to any other!
