Can I use this with a router bit with 2" Cutter Diameter?

I will use this router table with a porter cable router 690, Can I use this router table with this router with a bit with 2" Cutter Diameter1" Cutter Height ? thanks
Asked by: rafael
Thank you for your question. Yes, you can use a 2" diameter router bit with our RA1181 router table. This router table includes three tabletop inserts: 1" diameter for use with bits with diameters up to 7/8"; 2" diameter for use with bits up to 1-7/8"; 2-3/4" diameter for use with bits up to 2-5/8" and no insert is used for bits with diameters over 2-5/8" and up to 3-1/2". Do not use bits over 3-1/2" diameter.

Asked by: jason
UPDATE: So I but the bullet and bought this router table. It is exactly 27" and fits perfectly between the rails of my Delta contractor table saw. The slots in the outer edge however, do not line up. Modifications are required. Modifications do however void any and all warranties. Make sure you're happy with the router table before cutting into it.

Router lift compatability

Will the Rockler Lift FX fit onto the Bosch 1181 Router Table?
Asked by: Frank
The Rockler Lift FX is table plate is 8-1/4" x 11-3/4" x 3/8". The Bosch router table plate is 9-1/8" x 11-1/2" x 3/8". So the short answer is no unless you modify the Rockler plate which I do not recommend. Most router lift table plates (Incra, Woodpeckers, JessEm, Kreg) are made to fit a 9-1/4" x 11-3/4" opening. Why Bosch deviated from the standard table plate size is beyond me. Bosch does make an attachment that bolts to the table (RA1165) to allow height adjustment from the top but it only has 7/8" movement and is limited by what routers it will accept. If you want to use a router lift, don't buy this table.

I must've accidentally banged the front with some lumber and this caused the on/off switch panel to break off the base. All kinds of crumbled plastic bits too which I thought was odd, figuring this would be ABS and more resilient to getting hit by a piece of dropped lumber. I rebuilt the on/off panel with 1/4" luan and used construction adhesive. Actually stiffened the table up nicely. I've never seen a plastic anything crumble like this base does. Both the base legs and the on/off panel got damaged and crumbled near the 4 attachment screws. Maybe China switched from the good plastic to the cheap stuff when Bosch wasn't looking?

Assembly was a little challenging but not impossible, you just need to be patient and pay attention to detail. I have only used the table for practice so I am not yet ready to give it 5 stars. So far, I am pleased with my purchase and continue to see quality in Bosch products. I added a half inch plywood base to the router table bottom so that it would slide easily onto my garage shelf. I also think I will create a dust collection box under the table to assist with collecting the shavings. I do have a Shop Vac connected to the upper port, but I think an additional collector under the router will help keep the garage clean.

Of course it's not as good as something around 500$ but it's pretty good for the price. The only things I don't like so far are the miter slot which isn't very smooth to use a miter gauge with, the plastic key doesn't like to latch in and can pop out super easily (although it's not been an issue) and the router mount could be a little flatter overall, it's off by the slightest amount and doesn't make any noticeable issues though. Other than that, it's great! I'm using a dewalt router that fits in the predrilled holes, the feather boards work pretty well and the 2 1/2" vacuum port makes keeping things clean really easy. The fence is really good too!

The description on the site, nor the box indicates which routers this will fit, so it's a tossup whether it will fit your router or not. "A variety of routers" is dishonest, because when you open the manual in the box, that "variety" is an incredibly tiny list. "A small variety of routers" would have been more accurate, so that you can save people the trouble of bothering with this table. In the manual, it says that if your router doesn't fit, you need to buy an adapter, and gives a model number for that part. The trouble is, *Bosch never manufactured that part*. The only way to get an incompatible router to work with this table is to make your own adapter, or make your own plate entirely. But the problem is that the rectangular area that receives the plate is too shallow to make it out of a material like MDF, as the weight of the router will eventually cause that material to sag in the middle. So that leaves you with making your own adapter, but then the adapter eats the height available for the bit, meaning you can't get the full bit profile to be exposed above the table surface.... So that means this table gives you exactly two options: return it, or suck it up and buy a router that's compatible with it. So be forewarned, this is NOT a generic router table. This is a router table designed *only* for a select few Bosch routers and a smattering of routers from other brands.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cannot be used with certain routers! Overall the quality is okay; hard to tell if the main plastic table body will hold up. Certain routers do not fit the mounting plate. The manual specifies the adapter part number needed... But when you call Bosch they say there is no such part and that you should drill new hole to fit your router! A real pain if you don't have a drill press! Table had a alight warp corner to corner; maybe 1/16 the inch. Plate insert is aluminum and won't deflect with heavy routers. Will suffice for amateur and some intermediate woodworkers but definitely not advanced-intermediate or professional.

The cord caddie serves no purpose because all of the power cords are underneath, it should be removed and redesigned to be a tool holder for wrenches and height gauges that are used frequently with a router table. The table is very sturdy, and when adjusted, the fence is stable and accurate. I have been able to make multiple passes without readjustment. I recommend they add to the instruction to apply a wax to all the friction surfaces before use, it makes thing much easier for big jobs.
