Customer Questions & Answers

I would like to know if this measurer a Cm work

Asked by: Sarwat
It will not tell you distances in centimeters, but it will tell you in meters with 3 decimal places. If you are comfortable with the metric system you should be able to convert 1.376m to 137.6cm.

Hi, I would like to know if this measurer requires a tripode to work.

Asked by: Frank
No but it would make for more accurate reading if you can't put it on the ground or against a wall. Just holding it in your hand will cause an inaccurate reading.

Does this remember more than one measurement?

For example, if I wanted to measure height, width and length of a room, would I be able to view all three measurements when I got back to my drawing, or does it only remember the most recent measurement? Thanks
Asked by: KayFB
It remembers the last three measurements recorded.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from building measure friendly The major issue am facing is that am unable to use it in open field, being a government civil engineer whenever i try to use it in day time for short clear distances the instrument works fine, but in majority of day time when using in open field i get error message, it is suitable in building construction but for measuring in open field it has limited use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice addition to my tool box This was a Christmas gift for me and was the type of tool I would never have bought. However, once I used it I realized how great it is. It is so accurate that it is hard to believe. I tested it over and over on the same measurement and was amazed how repeatable it was. I highly recommend this tool.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great Instrument, Hampered By +/-1/32" Accuracy Last year, I purchased two GLM 50's for the students in a University class I teach on the survey and documentation of historic buildings. While the instruments are durable and easy to use in all conditions, the students struggle with the +/-1/32" accuracy: PROS: 1. Ease of use 2. Durability 3. Brightness of Laser 4. Screen Size 5. Features 6. Value CONS: 1. Accuracy--I purchased this instrument fully aware that it's stated accuracy was +/-1/16", which is more than enough accuracy for the survey work I do in the field. However, the instrument reads dimensions to the nearest 1/32"! I don't know anyone in the construction industry (with the exception of VERY specialized trades) that would want or need dimensions to the nearest 1/32" out in the field. One would think that accuracy could be adjusted/selected as a setting within the programming on the instrument--+/-1/8" or +/-1/16"--but BOSCH Engineering tells me no. Not only is +/-1/32" accuracy not needed by the vast majority of the construction industry, it actually makes survey work difficult! 2. Size of Numerals (Read-out) on Screen. While the screen is plenty bright, it is still hard to read at times outside. (This issue appears to have been resolved by BOSCH in the newer GLM 50 models). In summary, I would recommend the instrument--and highly--if it was not for the issue of the +/-1/32" level of accuracy, which is greater than what was stated on the literature, on this website, and is typically far beyond what is needed by the construction industry for field work. BOSCH--please fix this systemic flaw!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Accuracy & Spped in doing As-builts I purchased this device to perform as-built capture services for a large Automotive Manufacture. We use to use basic hand tape measures which proved to be both time consuming and inaccurate. This device has saved us countless man hours in the field and increased accuracy dramatically. It takes the "Human Error" factor out of the error process due to mis-reading tape measures. I was able to reduce my field staff by two employees after purchasing two of these devices. Also, I have never had a problem with the device because of Bosch's quality standards! I am one happy customer!! Would highly recommend this device!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely accurate and easy to use Great for indoor use, not so good for outdoor use as laser dot disappears at about 50'.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Measuring for estimates is a breeze Good range finder and measurement tool. But have a few cons: Case, which coming with product is too tight and it's really hard to close it with tool inside. Pointer could be brighter: If you use it outside almost invisible even at 15 Ft distance. I believe Bosch has measurers with bright points that costs much more, but if they upgrade this model it would be nice simple measurer. Calculator could have more options but again it's the cheapest model so can't expect too much from it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Time saving tool! I recently bought the GLM 50 for a specific job. Before bidding I needed to measure each room in a large commercial property, some of which were much longer than any tape measure I own. This laser distance measurer worked flawlessly...just aim and read the display. That's it. It really is that simple. The more advanced features are straight forward as well as the display makes it clear which value you are inputting. It seems to be built very well. Adding a back-lit display seems like something you wouldn't necessarily need, but after having the feature, I wouldn't be able to live without it. If I had to choose something to improve it would be the carrying case. It is snug around the unit and requires two hands to push the measurer in. (but it won't fall out!) I would also prefer a clip like a tape measure has on the back instead of a velcro strap that must be hooked around a belt. Neither of these case related issues alter my opinion of the purchase though, but they are minor complaints.
