Rephrase:Bosch Hammer Drill/Driver versus non-hammer version of Bosch Drill/Driver?

This question is from 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Combo Kit (2-Tool)

I bought a Bosch CLPK234-181L Combo Kit yesterday which has the non-Hammer Drill/Driver in it among the other items. After reviewing your website today, I see where I can spend an extra $ 20.00 and get the kit # CLPK243-181 which comes with the Hammer/Drill/Driver along with the same other items in my kit EXCEPT for the 2-L-Boxes. The CLPK243-181 has a Bag to store all items in the kit, which is okay with me, but I wonder if I am better off with a Hammer Drill/Driver in my kit although I rarely need a Hammer Drill/Driver. Is the Hammer D/D as easy to do basic D/D tasks I will do 99% of the time as the non-Hammer D/D version or is it heavier, not as user-friendly, etc. doing basic D/D tasks that do not require the Hammer feature? Please advise me.

Thank you for your question and choosing to purchase the CLPK234-181L combo kit. If you plan on drilling holes into masonry then a hammer drill would work much better than a drill/driver. The weight of the DDS181 drill/driver is 4 pounds and the HDS181 hammer drill is 4.2 pounds. The hammer drill has a switch to change from drill/driver to hammer drill mode so you can use it a standard drill as well. Read More

Should I spend an extra $20 and get the CLPK243-181 kit with the hammer drill instead of the CLPK234-181L kit without it ?

I purchased a Combo kit # CLPK234-181L which has the non-hammer drill version Drill Driver as well as the Impact Drill, 2 slimline batteries, and 2-L-boxes (I believe) yesterday and havent opened the carton yet. After reviewing the website of the company I bought it at, I noticed that for $20.00 more I could get the CCLPK243-181 kit which has the hammer drill/driver and a carrying bag instead of the 2-L boxes. I mainly use the Drill/Driver as a general purpose cordless drill and rarely need a hammer drill but now I am wondering if I should exchange it. Can the hammer D/D be used for my basic D/D needs as easily as the non-hammer D/D version?
