Thank you for your question. The 1617EVS does not come with a case. We do offer the L-Boxx-3 storage case that will work with this router.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Router bits are sold separately. There would be enough power to cut in pine and oak.

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 17 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works like a champ! I am building my own kitchen cabinets and for a first time builder, this router has performed flawlessly. I have used it on the style and rails... Even handled a 3" raised panel bit. Can't wait till I get to see my finished product! June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Router Ready to use out of the box Which allowed me to use the router right away. April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beast of a Bosch This router is a treat to use. The soft startup makes this easy to hold, but don't be fooled, it is a beast of a router. Plenty of power from my brief use of it so far. Have made some reasonably heavy cuts and it didn't miss a beat. HD carries optional plunge base and lifting router table mounts, both of which I plan on purchasing at a later time. With both 1/4 and 1/2 inch collets, this will work well with any selection of bits you wish to use it with. December 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice tool. Mounted in a Rockler table. Works very well. The adjustment tool is a nice feature. January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing router The fact this router works with the Kreg Router Table was a plus. Being able to purchase a predrilled, adjustable from the top table insert was a bonus. When you use this unit either, as a free cutting router or table mounted unit, that you find the real benefit. The speed control really does work, within reason. I found the unit was capable of increasing or decreasing the speed to stay near where you set the speed for the best possible cut. With the speed setting it was able to reduce the amount of wood burn from excess pressure, a real plus. October 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impressive Tool This router is far superior to the others I have owned. It has a smooth start and runs true. I purchased it to mount in a router table and the base is set-up for through the table adjustment. There is no need for an additional base if you will leave it mounted, but it is handy if you want to move back and forthfrom mounted to hand held operation. iI using large bits in the table it becomes a bit cumbersome to adjust the height, but independant it isn't an issue. Home Depot could not match the on-line price, but gave me a discount to very close to the on-line price. Very satisfied with the router and the service. September 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent router Recently I purchased a cnc and bought a porter cable router..After about 20 hours use the motor burned out...Replaced it with another PC and the bits kept slipping and after a ruined $60 bit and a plunge going through my waste board into the bed of the cnc, enough was enough. Replaced it with this router and have not had 1 bit of a problem since. The variable speed is great for when I carve harder woods. I use slower speeds for roughing, then higher speeds for finishing. This is an excellent tool for the job! January 31, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bought as a back-up I have the Bosch router set which includes both bases and case but got this to leave permanently in the router table. Have owned the initial Bosch (same model) for 5 years with no problems. Was going to buy the motor only, but for $10 more, could get it with the fixed base. Bargain. April 16, 2015
