Customer Questions & Answers

I measure rooms for flooring, is this the best model to use?

Asked by: Anonymous
this will take your perimeter measurements and figure out your square footage.

What is the point of the frame?

I'm not sure that I understand the point of the level frame. I have already a stable of levels of various lengths that can take a fall off a roof and remain accurate. For an extra $100, what does this do for me?
Asked by: Robe
Thank you for your interest. The Frame is used so the GLM80 can be used as a level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excelent must have tool! I love this tool. When doing a survey for a remodeling job it comes in very handy, not having to move things around and being able to do it unassisted is excellent. Plus its very easy to use and understand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Accurate and easy to use I've been using the GLM 80 for the last 6 months, and I've been very pleased with it. The first few times I used it, I also used a steel tape. The accuracy was spot on, so now I trust it's measurements and have not been let down. My uses are almost always indoors. It's very easy to see the dot inside. I did try it outside, and it works great, but at a distance it's hard to spot the red dot in the sun. I had a pair of red glasses that came with a laser level that helped some, but if I were to measure long distances outside I'd probably just grab my measuring tape. I'd definitely recommend the GLM 80 for it's accuracy, durability and great battery life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought several of these for my appraisers to be used mostly for outside measuring of homes and commercial buildings. These work great even in bright day light compared to other brands we have used. I did a lot of research before buying this one, because of having to buy so many I had to make sure it would work the way we needed to use it especially outside. My appraiser like this tool also because it is easy to use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Angle measurements have serious limitations While the advertisements describe the angle measuring range as being 0-360 degrees, what they don't tell you is that the laser switches off when you use the angle function. It is possible to measure angles in other functions with the laser turned on, but in those settings the angle maxes out at +/- 60 degrees. So if you are like me, and wanting to measure both distances and angles, this may not be what you want.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light & compact, but GUI needs work I bought this unit to use outside. While it gives considerable precision in its readings, I haven't checked its accuracy yet. However, there are two issues that I noticed. First, when using it outside, there is no way that one could make a measurement at the maximum range without some kind of reflector. Even at 50 feet, I needed to use a white cardboard to locate the red dot and then start moving outward to the point being measured. For greater distances, using a high reflectivity plastic roadside reflector was required. Perhaps this need should be mentioned in the manual. A second issue was the icons used in the GUI. They were not immediately obvious and somewhat obscure in their meaning. Larger, more meaningful icons would be helpful.
