Customer Questions & Answers

can this be used on the bottom of glass bottles

can this be used on the bottom of glass bottles
Asked by: Stacey
Yes it can be used on the bottom a glass bottle. You would need to lightly tap on the drill bit by roating it in you hand to make a starting point for yout hole. This would help keep the drill bit from moving around whem you apply pressure. Be sure to make the bottle stable before you try to drill to avoid injury.

Can you use this on stone? Needing to drill for undermount sink clip anchor.

I'm a plumber by trade and not a carpenter, I have used these for drilling through tile to mount wall hung sinks but never drilled into granite for clips. I only need to drill into it 3/8 of an inch.
Asked by: nick
Hello Nick, I am not sure if it can go through stone all the way or not. I used it on ceramic tile a little under 3/8" thick and it took a half hour to drill through. Then 45 minutes to drill another hole and after the second hole the drill bit was unuseable. So depending on how thick the stone is and how many holes you need whether it would make it or not.

The drill bit took one half hour to drill one hole through a ceramic tile. Then an additional 45 minutes to drill another hole. After two holes the bit had chipped enough of the carbide off that it was no longer useable. Would I recommend this bit, NO. I have been disappointed by Bosch drill bits, although their tools are some of the best on the market in quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked perfectly After reading a few less-than-stellar reviews, I was slightly concerned about things like the bit breaking, the coating wearing down quickly, or worse—cracking the porcelain tile I needed to drill. Relieved to say none of these things happened. The drill bit worked flawlessly with no problems whatsoever. As recommended by many pros, I first made a cross over the drill point with masking tape, then proceeded to drill slowly (variable speed drill) without applying excessive pressure. Stopping every minute or two to cool off the bit (just in case). I'm pleasantly astonished that each hole took about five minutes to drill, and the drill bit still looks like it could do several more jobs. Can't really see any wear after all that, in fact. Recommended A+.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cuts well This bit starts cutting immediately and continues steady throughout the tile. One thing to keep in mind is you must keep water on it to keep the temperature down on the bit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dull after one use Took over an hour to cut through 2 glass peices. After the first piece was finished the second took twice as long because the bit got dull after the first one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from bit end broke I was able to drill only 2 holes through a ceramic tile (already set on wall) before the end of the bit broke. It took me about 15 minutes to do one hole, it was painful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tile bit Good quality would buy it again. Or maybe not if it keeps lasting like this.
