Dont know if i got a bad 1, but at 30 feet dot gets bigger, can only imagine at 100 feet, i dont have time to place guessin games on the center of the dots. The plumb dot is so small i can't see it. Guess i'll stick with HILTI ! I'm sending this 1 back!!!!

I keep my Bosch - GPL5 with me all times. Im not only a regular construction employee. Also once we finish build we also help our costumers hanging ther pictures or design plates on dinning room master wall. Easy to carry on my backpack is with me 24/7. Also it is easy readable out doors at the time to level the ground on a manhattan townhouse backyard.

Bought the gpl5 to use for framing out windows and doors on welded metal buildings, on the very first use I noticed the laser was off in only 3 ft. Last building I checked it, the plumb laser was off almost a 1/2" in 16 ft. Shouldn't have to try and recalibrate it new out of the box. Very hard to see laser dot outside, even on a cloudy day.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Teqniqal Lightweight, compact, adaptable.
This unit works well and the mounting adapter is versatile, however, the magnets are a bit weak, so keep a grip on it if you are working at height ! It would be good if they offered an adapter arm that would let you attach it to things ABOVE the device so it can be hanging down (like magnetically attaching it to the BOTTOM of a steel beam). The owner's manual doesn't show you how to remove the battery compartment cover, so it's a bit of a fumble the first time (the manual does tell you, but not very clearly). Pay attention to the LABELS for the battery polarity, because the battery holder is constructed so it LOOKS LIKE they all go in the same direction, BUT THEY DON"T ! The storage bag is just large enough for the device, but no spare space / pocket for the attachment strap or storing spare / removed batteries.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by toolguy59 Poor design
have purchased multiple units for my company and have had the base come apart from the unit because the nut is recessed in the plastic and over a period of time it pulls free and there is no way to reattach

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by LocalBoy Very poor instruction manual
Great tool for the price and pretty straightforward and easy to use. However, the manual is extremely lacking, and I am unable to take advantage of the "easy field recalibration." The manual describes putting the power switch into the CAL position, but it doesn't exist. The manual also shows two different sized tripod mounts, but there's only one. This unit cannot be used with a construction tripod, only a camera tripod.
