With a run-quiet motor, orbital rotation, dust-collection module and low-vibration output, this 2.5 Amp sander from Bosch will appeal to even the most discerning woodworker or craftsman. It attacks work surfaces at variable speeds adjustable among six settings between 7500 and 12,000 OPM to create a smooth, uniform finish. A new-age microcellular 5 in. backing pad has inherent pliability that ensures optimal firmness is applied across the orbiting, rotating wheel. The twist-off dust canister is translucent so you know when it’s time to empty it; alternately, use the included attachment to connect the sander directly to a household vacuum hose.

  • Includes sanding disc, sanding pad, dampening ring, dust canister, vacuum hose adapter and carrying case
  • Controlled braking won't leave swirl marks
  • Dust-collection system captures particles as tiny as 1/2 micron

Answer:
Yes, you need hook and loop sandpaper with the holes as the holes in the sandpaper aid in the dust collection.

Thank you for your question. We recommend using hook and loop sandpaper with the holes as the holes in the sandpaper aid in the dust collection. The dust is drawn up through the holes then into the dust canister.

how do the pads attach to the sander, is it a hook and loop system? IF so, does home depot sell the replacement hook and loop pad?

I purchased a rigid orbital sander previously from home depot and I used it until the hook and loop part wore down so that it would not hold the sander pads on it. I tried 3 times to order a replacement part and never could get it, so the sander is worthless. I tried the stick on pads but those fly off after a few rounds of sanding. Please tell me if I can buy an additional hook and loop disk so when the original one wears out I will have a replacement.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Yes, the backing pad that comes with the Bosch ROS20VSC sander is a hook and loop pad. The part number for the replacement backing pad is RS034 and Home Depot.com currently has these in stock. If Home Depot is ever out of stock you can also order replacement backing pads direct from Bosch at 1-800-346-4103.

Can I use this on walls?

I am prepping my bedroom for painting and I had to patch several holes (I'd say 30 or so) that the previous owners left behind. I wanted to be able to sand it QUICKLY so I am curious if I can use a tool like this or if I need to use a regular hand sander or a pole sander.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. We do not recommend using our model ROS20VSC to sand drywall. The drywall dust is too fine and can enter the motor and cause damage.

Looks like it's the same product - just with a kit but it doesn't detail what's in the kit.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. The difference between the ROS20VSC and ROS20VSK is that the ROS20VSC includes a canvas carrying bag and the ROS20VSK includes a hard carrying case.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for this first time user! Affordable and excellent finishing! Only grip is the dust collector is tricky to put back on. March 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great sander I did my research online and decided on this Bosch. Very happy with it, collects the dust nicely and gives excellent results. Highly recommend this sander. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A very good product, Had to Finally replace my old Porter Cable orbital sander. Researched and found the Bosch was rated well. Got it and what a treat. I did some poly sanding initially and the filter worked exceptionally, better than I even envisioned, it began smoking as the poly fibers got hot. This filter grabbed a lot of the dust. Then when sanding it floats like a butterfly and indeed does the job. I had no idea new technology provided such a smooth riding sander. October 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bosch RO Sander The sander works well, is much quieter than the Porter Cable RO sander it replaced. The dust collector is a bit tricky to remove and the cover is awkward to take off but it does collect the majority of the sanding dust very well. Seems to do a great job in sanding of an Oak board with little or no sanding marks that I could see, feels good in the hand, even seems lighter than the old P/C I had. Just buy it already! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great sander I bought this to replace my skill palm sander and what a difference! At first I didn't think it was doing anything because there was so little sawdust, until I realized the dust collector was working so well. This thing is awesome and well worth the money, a job that would have taken over an hour with my skill sander can be done with this is 15 minutes. September 28, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Tool for the money The sander is comfortable to operate without causing vibration fatigue in the wrist. The tool gives a nice finish without swirls if you use the proper grit sanding paper. I have also used this sander to buff a wooden mirror frame made of cherry hardwood and the tool produced a nice smooth finish. I would have given the score a 5 but the attachment supplied to hook up a vacuum cleaner needs to be improved to better secure the vacuum hose to the sander. It keeps falling out. I had to tape the hose in place. October 24, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy on the hands, tough on the job This Bosch orbital sander is a pleasure to use. It has very good ergonomic design. Vibration seems minimal, and operation is very smooth. You hardly need to exert pressure downwards. In fact, too much pressure and it will bog down. It is designed to work best while lightly gliding over the surface. The rubber covering on the handle further minimizes vibration. The filter case is small, and therefore must be cleaned frequently. However, it is literally a "snap" to detach and re-attach. The filter can also be removed in favor of direct attachment to a shop vac. This option is best for long work periods. September 16, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product from Bosch Another good product from Bosch. I have 2 Bosch palm sanders and this fits right in as another toll in my sanding arsenal. January 20, 2015
