Product Overview

Core bits with wave design go beyond the range of standard bits and allow smaller hammers to drill larger holes. Bosch SDS-MAX rotary hammer core bits are carbide tipped with an integral shank for better power transmission. Maximum core size is 2-5/8 in. deep.

  • All-in-one core transmits power directly to the end of the bit
  • Carbide tipped active centering bit
  • Wave design transfers energy thru the bit more effectively for up to 40% better drilling performance
  • Asymmetrical tooth design for fast cutting and longer life

After getting hole started, does the centering drill bit detach? If not, how do you get core plug out of it? Also will be using a Makita SDS Max rotary drill. Do I sett the action to drill only or hammer/drill? Speed wise, drilling in concrete side walk, the settings for speed are 1 to 5, with highest speed being 5, do you have idea what speed? Thanks for any help.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Once you get the hole started you can remove the centering drill bit. You would need to use rotary hammer mode when drilling into concrete. This bit should not exceed 600 rpm. If you have further questions please feel free to contact our Bosch Customer Service Representatives at 1-877-267-2499.

Is the shank included w/ this bit?

Is the bit threaded so it screws on to the shank?

Answer:
The Bosch HC8516 Rotary Hammer Core Bit has a one piece design. The SDS Max shank is attached to the core bit and is not removable. The centering bit is replaceable but the core bit is not.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bosch core bit If you need to core holes without hiring or renting large expensive equipment this is your bit. It cored an accurate hole through cured concrete with ease. Seems well built and able to with stand the rigors of daily use. The pilot bit is inexpensive to replace if you do hit some rebar or steel with it. I really like these core bits. I use them to core holes for these solar light pods. August 15, 2014
