It shows on here that it is +/- 1/4" @ 100', yet this is supposedly has a range of 800'. so the accuracy at 800' is +/- 2" ?

FYI, this is still great accuracy for many situations, not precision work though. Fine for wood framed foundations though. Read Less

It's supposed to be accurate to plus or minus a quarter inch over 100' with an 800' range. I can't see the laser at 5' outside on a cloudy day. I can't imagine trying to use it at 800'.

Answer:
For closer accuracy, you can run multiple levels. For example, if you run eight-100' levels instead of a single 800' level, your accuracy tightens up a great deal. This is a fairly basic surveying concept.

Answer:
Don't know if you want maximum extended height or minimum height. Here is both. With the legs extended all the way and together it measures to the top of the base without the leveler on it - 60"
Minimum height with the legs all the way in and spread out as far as they will go it is - 11"

Answer:
Each leg telescopes to 59". Tripod height is 60-1/2" with a stable 10" leg spread (equidistant on flat surface). Beyond that, it's a geometry calculation. Tripod fully collapses to 29-1/2" with attached Velcro wrap-band. Tripod works smoothly with two easy-fasten clips on each leg.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 16 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent detailing and durability OVERALL: Easy to use, no harder than my laser measuring device. Impressive construction, strong measuring rod and tripod. Balances quickly and accurately, very nice set. ROTATING LASER: Easy to use, only three buttons. Can quickly set to 360 or smaller angle. Top laser produces straight line easily when unit placed on back. MEASURING ROD: A total of eight feet, collapses down to about 2 and 1/2 feet. The receiver attaches quickly and easily with clamp. TRIPOD: Extends to about 5 1/2 feet, legs are in three sections. Double clamps hold the sections in place very well. Laser attaches easily and securely. CASE: Double walled , much bigger than you might think, kind of a pain to store, but worth it. Every piece fits well into its slot. Worth noting that the tripod and measuring rod don't go in the case. June 3, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Tool for laying out and marking for projects This self leveling rotary laser kit, comes with everything needed to use out of the box. We used the rotary laser on a number of projects, from installing chair rail to building a deck. Indoor use is rather better than outdoor use due to the ability to see the laser. But that isn't a huge issue when paired with the kits laser receiver and survey rod make laying out a deck outside easy. Was able to layout and verify a level installation of the deck. The kit also includes red tinted safety classes that allow for better viewing of the rotary laser. The kit is built to last and heavy duty. Simple controls and easy to setup with the self leveling feature, which all packs into the included case. November 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Self Leveling Rotary Laser Kit We're building a cabin, and have used this several times in the short time I've owned it so far, for grading and leveling the building site to be bulldozed, and the building of the cabin. Top notch for accuracy and ease of use by one person working alone. The kit comes complete with tripod, leveling rod, laser target, glasses carrying case and batteries. November 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great for grading small sites. I purchased this over a year ago to do grading stake out for my bioretention projects. It has proven to be durable and comes in a nice case. This kit has everything you need to get started, including batteries. A couple of minor annoyances, though. 1.) A basic tripod is included with the kit rather than a telescoping tripod. I assume this is to fit within a certain price point. It is a total pain to adjust the tripod legs to get the laser level set at a specific elevation. You might be better off purchasing the HV 300 laser level, which is basically the same, and the BT 300 telescoping tripod separately for a few more bucks if you plan on using this frequently. 2.) The flanges on the telescoping rod are poorly thought out and get in the way of positioning the laser receiver when the reading falls near one of the flanges. Overall, a great product for the price. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Self-Leveling tool I got the unit 1 week after ordering it. Came UPS with no signs of damage to the tool. Unpacked the kit and found that the level and some of the accessories come in a nice sturdy plastic case. The Tripod and leveling rod were packed inside the box, but doesn’t fit in the case. So now I’ll have to build a box to keep them all together. I put the batteries in the rotary level and it powered on fine. Tried all settings and they worked fine. I like the 2 handles on the leveler. They fit the hand well and it makes it easy to hold/carry. Very easy to change speeds for rotational leveling and with line leveling. The same with changing from one type to the next. The self-leveling feature is set automatically and works very smoothly. If it is not what you want press a button and it stops the auto leveling. Working with the receiver is very easy for one person. Once you have found the level mark it beeps quickly to let you know. I like this laser leveler very much. Easy to use. Just wish the tripod and leveling rod fit into the case so everything stayed together. August 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GRL 240 HV The Bosch 800 ft self-leveling rotary laser is a quality made product. I have been using Bosch Products of various types for over 40 years and they are know for being a company that makes products that are top of the line. The laser itself is cased in a rugged housing. The sensitive laser and receiver come in a plastic case along with some attachments. Also includes a measuring rod and tripod. Very simple and well laid out device. August 31, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing. Easy one man operation. I wish I would have bought one of these years ago. This is the complete package and well worth all the high marks it is receiving. My primary project was a re-grade of about an acre of our field. That particular acre has been draining very poorly so I brought in some fill dirt but wasn't looking forward to all of the string line work. This completely eliminated all of the string lining. I picked a spot that seemed like the highest, set it up in rotation mode, and started walking around with the stick. The receiver on the stick responds to the laser beam with an audible tone, so you don't even need to be able to see the beam. Just walk, slide the receiver up and down, mark the height... and move on. In under an hour I had hundreds of markings down that let me fine tune the grading. Remarkable time savings. It's rock solid (I accidentally dropped it once, not a scratch!) and has a really nice case for the laser and all of it's accessories. I wish they would have found a way to fasten to rod to the outside of the case... I feel like the two will get separated in the workshop, but that's a minor complaint. I was simultaneously working on a shelving project in my office and this was a real life saver. I picked the height of one of the brackets, set this down in steady line mode, and BOOM I had a perfectly level line across all of the studs. Just walked from stud to stud and sank the brackets in without measuring. I checked it with a box level when it was all said an done, perfectly level. My only complaint is that the tripod is not high enough to reach floor to ceiling on a standard house. The tripod maxes out at about 6 feet, so shelving higher than that required me to install a shelf, prop this up on a stack of books until it reached the next shelve's height, and let the beam rotate. A little bootleg but not outrageous. September 9, 2015
