Answer:
This is designed to fit the Bosch Rotohammer - as such it has it's own bit design and would not easily fit a standard drill - however, I suppose you could put it in a standard 1/2 inch chuck. Without the hammer effect, you would be drilling forever.

I need a long 1" drill bit to drill holes in the grass to put some long 8 ft bamboo poles in to attach lights too. Will this drill bit fit on a regular drill? I have a black & decker drill.

Answer:
It will fit a 3/8 inch drill but unless the ground it pretty soft you should use a 1/2" drill to avoid damage to the drill motor. A drill extention will allow you to go deeper than 16", the max. effective depth of the bit itself.

Answer:
This bit is designed to go into a Bosch Rotohammer which has it's own chuck design, and the bit is designed for drilling into concrete or rock. For your purposes, I would advise a long spade bit that you don't mind ruining with dirt.

Answer:
The SDS bits are designed to fit in larger hammer drills. It would probably not chuck well in a standard chuck drill. An easier solution may be to drive a piece of 3/4" EMT or pipe into the ground and pull it out using the hole which remains to place your bamboo.

I don't understand the measurements. It says 1/2" x 16 in. x 18 in. How long is it? 16 inches or 18 inches? I also need to know if this drill bit is for drilling concrete?

Answer:
It is possible, but this bit is made for an SDS plus drill. Its shank is perfectly round with indentations for the SDS plus drill to grab onto. I do not believe that you could drill through anything of substance with a regular drill chuck as there is nothing for the chuck to grab and prevent spinning.
