What tripod can I purchase for the Bosch GLL2-10 Self-Leveling Cross-Line Laser?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, you can use the Bosch BS150 / BT150 laser level tripod or any other standard 1/4-20 camera tripod. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Bosch-Compact-Laser-Level-Tripod-BS-150-BT-150/204192288?N=5yc1vZc6l3

Can I turn off each beam separately

Asked by: Anonymous
No, both the horizontal and vertical are on at the same time.

Can this level be used as a chalk line level for tile or wood flooring?

Asked by: Anonymous
chalk lines do not make things level, only straight. This unit only shines out a vertical and horizontal laser line. It will not shine both lines on a floor. The vertical line will shine on the floor but you can't tilt the thing to get the horizontal line on the floor or it will shut off from not being level. Not intended to shine 2 square lines on a floor, good for walls or heights or vertical lines.

Horizontal beam height range

I want to make sure I understand this. If you, say, mount the unit on a tripod, the height of the horizontal laser lines will be equal to the height if where the beam exits the unit, correct? And angling the unit upwards on the tripod will not produce acceptable results - you have to increase the height of the unit (i.e. raise the tripod) so that the laser is at the height which you want your horizontal line to be. If, say, you want to place a horizontal line only inches down from the ceiling,l you have to raise the level almost to the ceiling. Yes?
Asked by: kleecker
horizontal beam line shines straight out of the unit so if you want the horizontal line near the ceiling you have to put the unit near the ceiling, can't tilt it to make it shine up on an angle or it shuts off from not being level. Vertical line will shine floor to ceiling in a 10 foot room if you get far enough back.

Customer Reviews

Cross Line Self Leveling Laser Level is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes life easier I bought the GLL 2-10 after reading several reviews, and I fully agree this item makes your life so much easier! I was going to use it to level cabinets and set tile, but I found it to be exceptionally useful for transferring stud centers from the crown to the base molding. I don't truly trust the stud finders to find the centers of studs, and I usually find the sides by using a finish nail, then mark the center. Tedious, yes, but this tool made it so easy to transfer those marks from the top to the bottom, thereby saving tons of time re-locating stud centers. I set the laser onto a platform, found the nails in the crown molding and with the laser still shining, shot the nails into the base without checking. The laser line worked as a target to make the nails perfectly parallel. It worked great, and I will try to think of more ways to use this tool! The self-leveling is so much easier, and I would highly recommend this product!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Better then a chalk line and level most of the time Overall this is a decent level. There is nothing fancy about it, there are 2 beams and an on/off switch. It's simple to setup, screw it on a tri pod or some other somewhat level surface and turn it on. You can either measure off the line it projects or try to get the line where you want it (that's trickier option) there is no dampening in the level, it just swings and move around till it settles out. It would be nice if you could laser on and lock it so you could shoot a beam in any direction other then the plumb and horizontal. The beam is not super sharp and it gets bigger the further it goes. For most applications it's probably more them accurate enough. Indoors the lines are easy to see, don't know about outdoor haven't used it there. Also it comes with a case which is nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have for Plumb & Level Installations I thought these ‘homeowner’ laser levels were just that for a ‘lazy homeowner’. This ‘Bosch Self Leveling Laser Level’ has made me rethink that position. When I replaced the tile in our home right after moving in 20 years ago I used all of the old methods measuring the space, plumbing one wall marking out the tile set pattern and calculating the tile pattern. With this unit I checked the plumb of the wall with a level then set the unit up on the counter and matched the level line to a verified plumb line. The laser beams were able to verify the layout and the grout lines of tile row by tile row in a matter of minutes. The same was true for the kitchen cabinets. This unit took a full hour’s job of creating a level line and snapping the chalk lines for the entire kitchen, of 20 years ago, to a point and view layout. Either the professional doing full layouts or a homeowner trying to get cabinets, shelves or tile lay outs done correctly and installing the job THIS IS YOUR TOOL. Any good camera tripod can be used with this laser projector to get professional results in minimal time. The old ways work, but not as fast and with a lot more mathematics!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just enough I got this laser about 4 years ago. for tiling is easy and accurate to guide the work. Countertops for kitchen cabinets are easily installed if they have a perfect level. With this one it can be accomplished.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for the home handy-man I used this in a 30 foot by 30 foot room, with the level at one end of the room. The projected laser was clear enough to take the guesswork out of hanging cupboards. The projected beam was a little fuzzy at 30 feet, but clear enough for cabinet hanging. The level has a hole on the base where you can install a tripod. The mount accepts any standard tripod you would use on a digital camera, this makes it very versatile. The level is self leveling. You place it on a flat surface, turn it on, and it automatically sets itself up. On top of the level is a light that tells you when it is ready to go. Bright red means it is still leveling itself, and bright green means you are good to go. When you turn the level off it locks the internal mechanism in place, this prolongs life of the unit by stopping the internal mount from moving around during transport. Whilst not as clear of a beam as more expensive models, the price is good enough for the home handy-man. A perfect addition to your toolbox.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice homeowner's level This is a nice, compact level. It projects both a horizontal and vertical line at the same time with no way to switch one or the other off which is why it only gets 4 stars. It self levels to within 4 degrees which is a nice feature and has a screw mount that will fit any tripod. It's very small, 4.25"x3", and can easily be placed on a shelf, counter top, or even step on a ladder if these are at the right height. It's as rugged and well designed as anything I've seen from Bosch and is a good tool for small projects.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very simple to use level It's pretty impossible to not use this level correctly, simply turn it on and set it down at the height you want to use it. I was hanging a row of hooks in my closet, so I set it up on a shelf across from where I wanted the hooks. As soon as you set it down the lasers automatically come on and it self-levels. There is a single vetical and a single horizontal line, so you can use either one or both on a project. Just be careful if you don't have the unit on a tri-pod that you don't bump it and move it while in the middle of a project. Comes with a nice little carrying pouch to protect it, and it's nice that it actually comes with two double A batteries. This is a good level for projects around the house, I wouldn't use it for large scale things over 30' wide, but for most of the stuff around the average house this is perfectly sufficient. Very easy to see red lines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made and useful This level has a very solid/durable feeling housing. The switch is recessed in the side, the window where the laser comes out is sunken in, and the battery compartment door latches flat. It looks like it would really minimize damage if it was dropped. There is a handy tripod hole on the bottom so that you can mount it on a tripod instead of setting it on a flat surface. Basically it self levels if it is within a few degrees of level, and it tells you with a light if it is not in that range. So much quicker than my previous laser level with the bubble level. You do need to have it sit on a stable surface though, if the surface is vibrating or moves it will take a bit for the level to settle back down as it uses a pendulum. It includes a padded nylon case that is practical enough to use, seems easy to open and it will keep the level clean. Level is made in China.
