Answer:
Use a fully charged battery in your drill or 110 v. drill. Sounds like lack of power driving the bit.

Answer:
A 1/4" pilot hole would help. Do not use this bit on boards less than 2" thick. Drill until the bit just breaks through the board, turn the board over and continue to drill from the opposite side.
This bit will have a very rough finish to the wood. The board should be secured (i.e., clamped, vised or nailed in place) when using this bit as the bit has a large bite into the wood. Have a strong hold on

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Our spade bits have a pilot point so there is not a need to drill a pilot hole. To start the bit be sure to depress the drill trigger switch slightly so that the bit slowly engages into the wood.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked like it should! Bored through 6" beams and with the screw pilot tip all you have to do is hold on. October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Self feed spade bit I bought this bit because they didn't have a self feeding Forster style bit, hoping that it would work. This bit cuts great, with little effort, and got the job done. October 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice bit Blew through the 2x6s like nothing. Nice blade seems like it'll stay sharp for a while. September 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for tea cup candle holder holes I was not expecting to find this bit as inexpensive as it was. It did a great job making holes for tea cup candles!! September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good purchase I bought this to make a hole through my wooden picnic table for a umbrella. It worked great! July 13, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Splits Soft Woods I used this to bore holes in 1 inch pine. Made a 1/4" pilot hole but the spade bit too aggressively into the wood and split the plank. A Tool Shop paddle bit worked better and costs less. The bite is too much for a hand held drill as the drill bit would freeze and the drill would pull from my grip. June 21, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by So sad I purchased 2 of these and one broke (literally) into 2 pieces on the first hole I tried to drill with it, and the other had the shaft physically bend when I tried to use it. Will never buy another Bosch product again and that's a shame. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by fast boring best spade bits i've used yet (i bought 3 sizes at the same time, only had time to use one but i'm sure the others are the same, just different diameters). Don't forget to drill the pilot hole, and have the drill on the slower speed (fast is too fast for these bits). December 2, 2014
