Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 easy drilling love these bits untill i hit a nail the advatage is that you dont have to push untill the end infact if the drill cant handel drilling due to high temp cut off you can pull rather than push to gain performance . April 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hot Knife Through Butter I was having trouble drilling pilot holes and holes for LED lights on my Tigerwood deck project. Dave in the tool department took the time to help me figure out what the best bit for the job would be. I found that if you let the bit do all the work with these bits and apply minimal pressure, it made perfect holes with no chipping or splitting. Tigerwood hits the Janka scale at 2160. These bits handle this wood with no problem as long as you are patient. June 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Working guy I use mine to bore holes for pulling wire. These thing are the easiest bits I have ever used. Anyone that hasn't tried this style of bit should. They are missing out. March 12, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impressed First off, I will grant that the only drill bits of the same sizes I had used before was from a cheapo Ace Hardware brand set, so it probably isn't too hard to impress me after that. But still! These bad boys slice through 3/4" oak plywood like butter! Frozen butter, but butter just the same. Heh. It was quite a relief that they worked so well. It took forever and lots of muscle to drill a large hole with my last set, and I just didn't have it in me to put that kind of energy into this recent project. I swear, after that first hole, I could have cried with happiness. Mostly on account of the pregnancy hormones that are raging through my body, but that's besides the point!! ;) December 30, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bites off more than it can chew This bit eats through material like crazy, but here's the rub... The tip is too aggressive for most drills. I tried 3 different drills with these bits and had trouble each time. I followed the manufacturer instructions to a tee and even took the time to call Bosch to see if I was doing anything wrong. My drill is no slouch either as I use a Dewalt XRP 18v cordless. I also tried a corded Skill and even a high torque pneumatic drill. All of them failed to even drill down 1/2" into a piece of cedar 2x4 on a 1" diameter hole. The cut that it did make was precise, but as soon as it got down about 1/2", it would bind up. I tried different locations on the 2x4 as well and even compared it to a standard spade bit. Frankly, the spade bit made nicer finish on the hole wall and easily got through the 2x4. I think that if the tip were less aggressive, these would be great. But at that breakneck cutting speed, you'd need a monster of a drill to get through a somewhat deep hole. April 29, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Agressive This spade bit has a screw point to help draw the bit through the wood. This can be a good thing as it takes no effort to drill although it may be too aggressive for some finer projects. I tried drilling a 7/8" hole through a piece of 5" yellow pine baseboard about 2" from the end and it quickly split the piece. I may have been able to avoid this by easing through using a regular spade. The "screw tip" gave me no option of easing up. It probably would have worked just fine if I had not been so close to the end. I have not tried it on a laminate counter-top and will certainly do a trail hole first. I will be keeping my old spade bits handy for the more finer work. March 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good set of Bits Nice addition to my tool kit.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! January 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great bits These bits are awesome! They are self feed and when used properly in low gear on your drill they chew through wood like a hot knife through butter. and the price when i bought them was unbeatable. January 7, 2015
