It drills quickly and pulls itself through without much effort. It does not have any issues when it hits a nail or screw. It jumps a little but not much. Once you break through you do need to push a little the bit does not self feed ones the screw tip breaks through.

I needed to drill four parallel holes, 12" deep in wood. The wood grain tends to make the auger move around as it drills. I don't have a drill press that would allow me to keep the drill in line, but because the leading edge of the augers are tapered to a smaller OD at the tip, I could start the holes at 1/4", which I could control by hand. Then I could use the Bosch augers to successively enlarge the holes to 1-1/8". An ordinary auger has a tooth on the leading edge of each spiral, which gives a clean cut on the back side of a hole. But for my purpose, the teeth make an ordinary auger impossible to control.

Didn't work to my expectations. Ended up using a paddle bit.

Was recommended by a sale associate and not happy with product. It never drill through the wall, not even after making a pilot hole. Bought a regular drill bit (long bit) and it worked better.

I've been happy with most of the Bosch drill bits I've used over the years, and so far this is no exception. It's tip lets you start your drilling location precisely, and it drills easily through wood. The base that attaches to the drill is hex-shaped rather than round, so you know it the drill will grab it without slipping. This drill comes in a nice plastic case you can use to store it in, so it won't be rubbing against other things in your tool box.
One thing to be aware of is that the total length of this drill bit is 7.5". You're going to loose about 1.5-1.75" of that into your drill for holding it, and there's about 0.75" at the tip used for starting the drilling process, so you can only go a little over 5" deep for actually drilling a 1" hole. Also note that the maximum-rated speed for this bit is 600 RPM.

If you are looking for an aggressive bit that will go through anything, this is it. If you're looking for nice clean holes, this isnt it. Looks like a shotgun blast through the hole, whereas what I need is clean holes. However, if you are looking for something that will last even longer than your typical nail eater bits, this will suit you just fine.
