No. I kept the packaging for that purpose. Since I do most of my work at home, I don'y\t need to transport them. That's a "con" for a lot of woodworkers, I agree.

These DareDevil Spade Bits do not come with a pouch; they are supplied in a "sectioned" plastic vac package, which can be used for storage if the top plastic membrane is cut to open like a book.

Hello Andrew,
I have the DSB5013P set which comes in a firm folding "binder style" case. The individual bits are separated and well supported with elastic pockets. Some other Daredevil bit sets come in plastic pack with pockets to protect them. Your best bet is to visit Home Depot to select the set you need for your projects.
Cheers!

Not the ideal bit for that application, as these bits have a threaded spur. They are also very aggressive, by design, and do not make for nice finish holes.

Answer:
Sure. measure the depth that you want and mark the spade bit with a marker. Measuring from the flat of the bit. Take into account that the point and chisel edges are going to dig into the wood too. IF you do not, you may find the bit went all the way through.

Yes but it is designed to pull itself into the wood . So there would be an area where the tip/screw portion has begun to screw into the wood once you have stopped drilling .

Answer:
Thank you for your question. The DareDevil Bits have a full cone threaded tip so the bit will pull itself into the wood so it would be hard to stop the bit when you get to a certain depth. A Forstner bit would be a better bit for that type of work.

Pressure treated wood is still pine for the most part. Even drilling into soft wood, long holes generate heat and can effect the life span of the drill. Since you are using a hammer drill, you are implying that you want to drill fast and deep. The best drill in that case is the ceramic tipped multi purpose bit. Since you are using a hammer drill, you are implying that you want to drill fast and deep. The best drill in that case is the ceramic tipped multi purpose bit. These can be used on stone, concrete and well as hard timbers. They are not effected by heat. They are cheap and come in very long lengths. The only down side of that bit, is that the hole it makes not as precise as other bits. But that is the only trade off. Read Less

That depends on the size of the hole you need. Diameter and depth are just as important as the material you are drilling and the drill you are using.

Thank you for your question. We would not recommend using a rotary hammer because they have a clutch and drilling 4x6 timbers might be too much for the tool to handle.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Really works, but not long lasting These bits really do grab the wood and plow through, just as advertised. They might be a little TOO aggressive. If you're not holding on tightly to the drill, it just might get away from you. I don't know if it really goes 10 times faster than a regular paddle bit, but it is significantly faster. My only gripe is that after 10-15 holes, the bit wears out and has to be replaced. If you're OK with that cost, and you have to drill a lot of holes, I'd definitely go for this bit. July 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good sturdy bits at a great price. Good bits at a great price. Only con was hoping for slightly longer bits, which are necessary on rare occasion. These bits are moderately priced individually, but very inexpensive as a package. You may never need but two or three sizes as a happy homeowner, but it's nice knowing you have all the sizes. Even at the maximum depth, these bits are stable in your screw gun. I've had little wear and tear after sistering beams (4.5" total width) using easily 100 anchors with the 1/4" bit..... Don't know if the bits will last the life if a commercial job, but easily on a small residential project, which gets you the bang for the buck. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great bits! In the carpentry business , you drill a lot of holes. I replaced my collection of standard spade bits with these guys and will never go back! This is my second set, as like most wood drilling bits, these don't really like hitting nails. But the self feed feature is great, especially drilling in awkward positions. I use them in my cordless impact gun. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Should be good Well, It's been a few month since I've bought this but only got chance to used them once to make a hole in the kitchen cabinet. May 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best spade bits out there These are my favorite spade bits. They cut through wood like butter and last a while. Avoid hitting nails as it will dull the bit beyond use. You can also extend the life of these bits a little with a needle file if needed. May 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what I needed to finish off my project Was looking for a bit set to make a few different size holes for a project I was working on and they had this set right up in front for an awesome price, exactly what I needed to finish off the project. August 18, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great bits, they grab and go. Awesome bits, they grab going in better than any other I've used. The downside to this is that reversing them out can also bite and become a bit annoying, but it's a minor downside and definitely a worthwhile tradeoff. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love those isle specials i was needing a spade bit and a few other things on my project when I happened upon this "in the isle" special. I was impressed with how much better these worked than a standard spade bit. May 10, 2016
