When used as instructed, product life was good for less than one hole.

I was hesitant to buy these based on reviews. However, these are made for ceramic, not for porcelain as many tried to use them on.
I drilled 18 holes to mount grab bars/soap dish with grab bar, and a towel grab bar and the bit probably would go another 30 holes with no problem. Just go slow, took about 20 seconds or less per hole. I use masking tape to mark out where I'm going to drill, plus the tape helps the bit from walking. I did not try to break the glaze on the tile before hand, with a nail punch. I just started drilling. Very impressed!

I bought this set to drill holes for wall anchors to hang plumbing attachments (arms etc) in a new shower I remodeled. The tile was porcelain so not necessarily the hardest of surfaces. The number of holes I needed to drill was four (1/4) so I figured the price wasn't the bad ($15), I needed a new set of bits for this type of application and the product was perfect for the job as well as future ones due to the four sizes. However I burned through three bits with the four holes that needed to be 1/4.That is the 1/4 bit and the two descending sizes.
That being said, they DID do the job great with little to no chipping of the tile and no cracking at all. I suppose if they were a "one and done" set for a few bucks less it would make sense but for $15 and now I am down to one bit it does not work well for me.
I will recommend the set solely because they did drill a good hole in the porcelain.

The reviews I read warned about bits getting dull quickly. I have bored dozens of holes with just one and it is still sharp. Makes nice smooth holes with little or no tear out.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Robe Excellent bits for tile
Have used both the 3/16 and 1/4 inch bits to drill anchor holes in bathroom tile for towel racks and other appurtenances. I'd guess I have drilled a minimum of 12 holes with each bit and I've noticed no indication that they are wearing. Just use a low drill speed, apply a bit of pressure at the start until the tip bites (you can hear the bit beginning to bite) and then proceed slowly. No water is necessary if you use a low speed. I usually put a couple pieces of masking tape on the tile to prevent walking. They work great. I haven't chipped or cracked a single tile.
To preserve wear on the tip I usually remove the bit as soon as it penetrates the tile and then switch to a masonry or wood bit as appropriate.

I bought these in accident because I saw tile on the front. Got it hime and says it for porcelain tile. I didn't want to go back out so I went to work.
I started slow with the bit and it did start drilling. I tried using cutting but it seemed to stop the bit from cutting.
I ran the bit at a fast speed and would dip it in the oil and wipe it off. I would blow out the hole and keep drilling for a short bit. I drilled two holes and on the last hole I went fast and held hard pressure on it. I did dip and wipe as before and it cut through the porcelain tile in about 5 minutes. The bit did start to burn up as you could smell it but it still worked.
I still won't recommend this for porcelain tile but if you are just doing one job I say do it.

Was trying to hang a microwave oven and didn't want to crack the title. These bits worked wonderful and had no problem with the title cracking. I recommend these bits to every one.

I purchased this drill bit set to drill through ceramic tile. I was frustrated with several attempts that were taking forever using various bits and a Dremel. I decided to get a set of tile bits and chose this set based on the features. I did not have a hammer drill so these bits worked perfectly for me. Although I only needed one of them, the package of 4 was a great deal over buying the 4 bits individually. I was able to drill 3 holes in the time it took me to do 1 hole with my previous attempts. The bits cut very well and make a clean hole and don't want to wander when starting. The bit did seem to get a bit hot so I occasionally squirted water on it to cool it and the tile. For precise drilling in ceramic tile without a hammer drill, these bits work perfectly!
