The laser works awesome and is very accurate. If you don't have one, get one.

it is important to note that the lazer falls on the left of the actual cut. The lazer line is not directly under the blade. You have to make sure that the waste side of your cut is on the right of the work piece because the cut will be on the right of the lazer line. When setting up you will have to move the work while the saw is running in order to get a correct cut. not a big deal but if you clamp your work you have to get the alignment right before you clamp. This all takes time.
It is too bad Bosch has not made the UK version of the lazer available since it allows you to bracket the cut line with the two lazer lines. I imagine it is an issue of manufacturing a US version to run on the lower voltage we have here.
I notice that Home Depot has discontinued this product. I guess I got one of the last of them.
I am now really wondering why I need this. Seems to be a solution without a problem but I have it and will try to learn to use it correctly.

The laser arbor attachment is worth EVERY penny it cost. It is extremely accurate.

Not a good product. Light is weak and way off the mark.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by KevE Great idea; Great construction; But...
Love the idea of the laser guide and the price seemed reasonable. The line looked good when I first set up the saw and checked it out in the shop. Most of my work so far has been outside though, and I haven't been able to see the laser line. I've been working the saw for about a month and haven't gone in-depth to see if there's a problem with the laser...but I did make sure there was no gunk on the aperture. Will try to post an update if I resolve the issue.

Because this laser is mounted on the side of the blade, the line does not line up with the blade edge. This unit is made with the laser line slightly out of parallel with blade, so if you start with the blade raised and bring your mark to the line, as the saw is lowered, the line moves. This is explained in the instructions with the unit. I find the best way to use it is to lower the saw, and align the mark to the line with the saw down.
The other thing about this is it is centrifugally actuated, so you have to turn the saw on to see the line. For some work this is OK, if you can bring the blade forward and down without touching the work. If you are working on a very wide or thick piece, you will have to have the saw in the up position, turn it on and move the mark to the line. As noted above, when you then move the saw down, the line will shift, so you have to know how much to offset the mark from the line. Like I said - it takes getting used to.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by doug Defective product - did not work
The laser beam was defective - no beam. I returned it to Home Depot and got a refund. I later bought the same product again from a different store and that one worked. This is the only laser guide that is compatible with the GCM 12SD to there are really no other options.

This is a good laser with one exception. The laser line is hard to see if you are working outside in the sun. This is probably common to any laser light.
