Questions & Answers

can this laser washer be used on either side of the blade - right or left?

Or, would it even be possible to put two of these on the saw, one on each side of the blade to make a "dual" laser line that marks either side of the cut?
Asked by: jkaziu
If the saw has a washer in each side of the blade you most likely could install two lasers, but all my saws have a fixed area that the blade go's against on the drive side of the arbor. The arbor may not be long enough for two lasers to fit.

Customer Reviews

Miter Saw Laser Arbor Washer Guide is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Common sense I absolutely love mine. Obviously any laser isn't visible outside without enhancement glasses. As a GC we use this daily coupled with the glide saw and T4B stand. My tool arsenal is exclusively Bosch due to one thing.....their service. When I call for service I always hear the same thing..."NO PROBLEM"! The yellow brand and others were a runaround at service time. I don't have time for that I have work to do and NEED my tools to get it done. Bosch gets my tools back to me usually in 4 days thats why I own them. One question I want to know if this will fit on the other side of the blade so we can have a laser on both sides of the blade?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not recommended... I bought this with the purchase of a 12" glide miter saw thinking it would be the perfect addition to compliment the saw... Boy was I wrong. I had the saw setup outside under an ez-up and there was no laser to be found on my cutting surfaces. I then dismantled the laser to replace the batteries installed from the factory with the supplied extra batteries and the laser still was not functional. I'm not sure under what conditions the laser is not visible but there should be substantially better instructions or trouble shooting with this thing as this is the second review with poor results from this product. I will be contacting customer support to get more information but what an inconvenience it was not having the laser guide while cutting casings and baseboards this weekend... I would only recommend his product if Bosch customer support pulls through with resolving my issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works well Just install and you have a nice line to work off of. Only drawback is you can not see the line outside if there is bright sun light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Glad I got it, but it takes getting used to Because this laser is mounted on the side of the blade, the line does not line up with the blade edge. This unit is made with the laser line slightly out of parallel with blade, so if you start with the blade raised and bring your mark to the line, as the saw is lowered, the line moves. This is explained in the instructions with the unit. I find the best way to use it is to lower the saw, and align the mark to the line with the saw down. The other thing about this is it is centrifugally actuated, so you have to turn the saw on to see the line. For some work this is OK, if you can bring the blade forward and down without touching the work. If you are working on a very wide or thick piece, you will have to have the saw in the up position, turn it on and move the mark to the line. As noted above, when you then move the saw down, the line will shift, so you have to know how much to offset the mark from the line. Like I said - it takes getting used to.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great idea; Great construction; But... Love the idea of the laser guide and the price seemed reasonable. The line looked good when I first set up the saw and checked it out in the shop. Most of my work so far has been outside though, and I haven't been able to see the laser line. I've been working the saw for about a month and haven't gone in-depth to see if there's a problem with the laser...but I did make sure there was no gunk on the aperture. Will try to post an update if I resolve the issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Low visability Inferior visibility. Unable to see indoors most times, outdoors is impossible unless its almost dusk. It does output, but at such poor intensity it is useless for its task.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from waste side of line it is important to note that the lazer falls on the left of the actual cut. The lazer line is not directly under the blade. You have to make sure that the waste side of your cut is on the right of the work piece because the cut will be on the right of the lazer line. When setting up you will have to move the work while the saw is running in order to get a correct cut. not a big deal but if you clamp your work you have to get the alignment right before you clamp. This all takes time. It is too bad Bosch has not made the UK version of the lazer available since it allows you to bracket the cut line with the two lazer lines. I imagine it is an issue of manufacturing a US version to run on the lower voltage we have here. I notice that Home Depot has discontinued this product. I guess I got one of the last of them. I am now really wondering why I need this. Seems to be a solution without a problem but I have it and will try to learn to use it correctly.
