If this can't be used in "hammer-drill" mode, what good is it?

I don't understand how this ends up being any different than a regular right-angle drill, since it can't be used in "hammer-drill" mode. (It can only be used in regular drilling mode, according to Bosch customer service.) So if there's no hammer action... is it just a very expensive right angle drill attachment, that won't make it any easier for drilling through concrete than a regular right-angle drill?

Answer:
The right angle attachment allows the tool to be used for drilling into tight spaces without having to change to another tool. Designed for use in rotary mode only however by using the SDS-Plus carbide bits this will aid in drilling into concrete. The tool will work with 40% less energy than using the tool in rotary hammer mode without the attachment.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solid Attachment for Tricky Situations This is an indispensable attachment for your hammer drill for when you're working in tight spaces. The attachment came well packed and with clear instructions. Installing it is really easy and intuitive so it's not a bother to hook up when you need it. It basically slips snuggly over your existing chuck. One important note is that this is a brand and model specific attachment so make sure your drill is compatible. The other note is that they call out that there is a limit to how much you can use it in a given period of time. I think this is because it might overheat and wear out prematurely. It's probably not an issue for people unless they're looking to set this up and then spend hours drilling hole after hole after hold. In which case you should probably just get a dedicated right angle hammer drill. August 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EFFORTLESS TO USE I had to secure a collar on a concrete pad where I only had a few inches of space to work in. I didn't have the right hammer that this would fit on so I borrowed one from a friend. This attatchment only fits on newer model Bosch hammers that have the 50mm collar design. 11253VSR, 11255VSR. RH228VC, RH328VC and cordless models 11536-C and 11536VSR. It's easy to attach however. Just put the collar on that comes with the hammer, slide on the angle and roatate and tighten with an allen wrench. Although touted to only reduce power by 40%, if you are used to the full power, drilling with it will seem like it's going slow. It did do the job though, with no banged up hands and not too much cursing. June 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quality component I didn't get to use this but once, trying to fish a co-axial cable through a foundation and exterior brick wall. The install was straight forward and there weren't any surprises. On a tool like this, it's hard to give it a stellar review in just a few weeks time because I need a tool like this only when I find myself in a real pickle. In use it really feels like part of the drill and I like how it clamped to the drill body. June 4, 2016
