Answer:
Theoretically, yes, but a lot of bamboo flooring tends to splinter badly at the tongue when you put it in with staples. Cleats are usually a better alternative with that kind of flooring. Thinner, 18-gauge cleats fired through an 18-gauge flooring nailer are probably your best bet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only way to put down solid hardwood floor I did not buy this tool brand new but found it used from a local handyman who was not getting enough jobs. Although I felt bad that he wasn't getting enough business that he had to start selling his tools, I was glad we could help each other out. I do not know how much he used this tool before I bought it but frankly I do not think that matters, this tool is such a well built product it would take a lot of use before it breaks. I could see some internal parts eventually wearing down (o-rings, etc) but the instruction manual gives precise ordering and replacement instruction. I did notice that some of the hex head screws came loose after a lot of use, I should have just tightened them before each time I used the tool, that is just good maintenance for all air operated power tools. I used this tool to install 3/4" solid oak. I used the prefinished boot that came with the tool but was still even a little scared of marring the surface of my new floor. Just to be safe, I hot glued a Swiffer pad to the face, it worked perfectly. Not only did I never risk marring the finish of the floor, I cleaned up dust as I went. Plus, because the boot is very hard plastic, you can easily peel dried hot glue off of it and glue on a new Swiffer after a little use. I had considered renting this tool but just could not justify doing so. My install took me a couple weeks working on it after work and over the weekend; tool rental would have cost considerably more then this tool cost brand new. I have also found with tool rental you end up rushing the job since you are on the clock instead of taking your time to do a quality job. I can't see any other way to perform a quality install, so if you are not buying this tool as a professional, look into how much you think you could get reselling it before buying. There is probably a guy out there like me who would gladly pay near full price for this tool used. If i had one suggestion for this tool it is that it should come with a case. It comes with a lot of accessories out of the box, it would be nice for a case just for this tool to keep them all together. In general, I will buy a tool with a case over one without a case even for more money just to keep them organized and in better condition over the long haul.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Experience Easy to Use We purchased this to install 3/4" prefinished oak flooring. We were hesitant because we had used a nailer 2 yrs ago to install the same wood in our other house. Anyway, we couldn't find a nailer, so we purchased this upon the suggestion of Home Depot Employees and after doing some research on the internet. This stapler went together with ease, and it even came with the boot that is needed for prefinished wood so that you don't scratch the wood's surface. My husband had no problems with it at all. It was easy to use, just hook it up to the air compressor and follow the directions. We now have a beautifully installed floor that he can proudly say he did himself. He even says the staples hold better than the nails that we used 2 yrs ago in the other house. The price is reasonable. We checked around, and renting a flooring stapler or nailer would have cost so much more than just purchasing it. This item received 5 stars from us because of its ease of use and its cosistency. It never once jammed or hurt the finish on the prefinished would. We highly recommend this product. You will not be disappointed!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gym floor installer... We have two totes full of these things, and have to bring them both whenever we install a new gym floor. Why? Quite a few leak, the magazine slides are finicky (after a few floors use), the o-rings don't typically last for more than 7000 square feet (elementary/auxiliary gym average size), and when they jam (which doesn't happen until the o-ring is compromised) it's not any easy task to take it apart to get to the staple. On another note, they're great flooring nailers, but maintenance wise, they just end up costing more in the end. If you do residential flooring or will install your own floor, this will be perfect for you. If you want a flooring nailer with zero issues down the road, check out Powernail. We have rarely had to send them in for maintenance. Which is a huge plus when you have to nail in more than 15,000 square feet in a week. So all in all, Bostitch makes good guns, but if you want a tank of a flooring nailer (not to mention an absolute delight to use), spend the extra on Powernail so you don't end up with a tote graveyard of flooring nailers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth The Money I have owned this stapler for several months now and it was well worth the purchase! I have put down 3/4 solid hickory floor in my house with no problem and for what I would have spent renting the nailer over and over again to use this with my schedule it was definitely worth the money. To me there really is no negative, this tool is easy to use, practically no maintenance and quick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from floor nailer (from a business aspect) I have been using these guns for over 18 years. I run a flooring business we have tried many brands of guns but none have seemed to last as long or fire staples as powerful or fast as bostitch. As for people who say that they don't last long just don't rebuild them correctly. I used white lithium grease on my last 3 I rebuilt an we got well over 2 years out of them an that's using them on at least 2 installs a week. we run 2 crews so we pound out some footage. I would recommend these guns to anyone doesn't matter if your a d.i.y who wants to put in your own living room or a professional making a living doing flooring. Great Great gun.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good product could be better I prefer the bostitch stapler with the while using cleats as a setup rather then the staples. cleates are more durable and penetrate the harder exotic woods alot easier with less problems. just an all around better product over the staples.
