I looked all over 2 stores and cannot find a PVC pipe that will fit the inlet. Instructions talk about which cement to use for best results when connecting to PVC but cant find any PVC fittinfs of pipe that matches it. (PR19X C1)

Home Depot's 1/2" CPVC pipe (Charlotte Pipe) is 1/2" I.D. (inner diameter). This product needs a 1/2" O.D. (outer diameter) CPVC pipe. Their current 1/2" Charlotte pipe won't fit this--even given that it's CPVC, not PVC. (Brasscraft is somewhat wrong.)

According to specs, the O.D. of HD's current 1/2" Charlotte pipe is .625"--not .5"--the Charlotte Pipe's O.D. doesn't mate with much of anything which I can find--saving compatible unions, angle fittings, and tees. (The 3/4" Charlotte pipe appears to follow the same twisted logic.)
I believe that our 1/2" O.D. CPVC pipe is legacy--it's not manufactured anymore. (Loads of usable fittings for 1/2" O.D. still exist, though.) I'd reconsider CPVC projects and solvent welding.... Read Less

Thank you for your question.
This BrassCraft valve has a CPVC inlet and connects to a CPVC water supply.
Below are the main steps to follow when installing this type of valve. We have also attached a How-to video that will give more details on the installation instructions. Please feel free to contact our Product Experts toll free at 877-272-7755 if you need additional assistance.
Before removing the existing valve, shut off the main water supply. Next, if possible, open a faucet at the lowest point of the dwelling. This could be an outdoor garden spigot or basement laundry tub faucet. This will relieve excess water in the system and reduce the amount of water that will escape once the existing valve is removed.
Next, prepare the tube and valve with the CPVC primer and cement. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for proper application.
Use only CPVC cement that conforms to ASTM F493 or you may experience a joint failure.
Before applying primer or cement, check that the fit between the tube and the valve are snug.
Using an applicator, clean the tube and valve by applying a uniform layer of CPVC primer/cleaner to the outside surface of the tube and the inside surface of the valve.
Next, apply a thin coat of cement to the tube that is equal to the depth of the socket on the valve, approximately 1/2 inch. Make sure that there is no uncoated surface on the portion of the tube on which the valve will be installed.
Now apply a thin coat of cement to the inside of the socket on the valve and a second coat on the tube. Make sure that the cement is not applied beyond the depth of the socket.
Install the valve onto the tube quickly by pushing the valve fully onto the tube using a ¼ turn motion until resistance is felt. Make sure you orient the outlet of the valve so that the ¼ turn motion will position the outlet at the desired location. The cement must remain fluid during the installation.
Wipe up any excess cement with the rag. Hold the tube and valve together for 30 seconds to prevent the tube from pushing out.
Next, attach the riser which connects the valve to the fixture. Follow the riser manufacturer’s instructions for installation. Read Less

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does not last forever Had an identical valve that would not shut off after 7 years. Bought this as a replacement and was able to install very quickly by unscrewing the old one from the water source line and screwing this one in. Great price considering I did not have to pay a plumber $100 labor! Probably should have lasted longer than 7 years.... September 30, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Leaks I bought 4 of these. After 2 weeks 1 is leaking. It seems to be leaking from between the CPVC insert and the metal body of the valve. April 15, 2014
