Customer Questions & Answers

Is this the right kind of fitting to widen the hose for a propane stove?

I'm trying to get an idea of prices for a fitting to widen the hose that is on the back of my stove for propane so I can change stoves. Is this what I need? I know I have to get a certain size.
Asked by: khira320
Dear khira320, Thank you for your question. Our gas connectors are approved for use with both LP & natural gas. To properly size a gas connector to your stove, you must first know the BTU rating of the new appliance. This rating can be found on the manufacturer's label or in the owner’s manual. The 2nd piece of info that you need is the length of connector that will allow you to safely access behind the appliance without stretching or damaging the connector. Match the stove’s BTU rating to the rating on the connector at your required length (see attachment - LP gas). The adaptors / gas fittings are sized to the inlet of the appliance & the outlet of the gas supply / ball valve. So the threads on this fitting should mate with the inlet of your gas appliance. For more information on how to select the proper gas connector & fittings, please visit BrassCraft’s video library or contact one of our Product Experts at 1-877-272-7755. Detailed instructions are also attached below. Thank you again,

1/2 in. O.D. Flare x 1/2 in. MIP Steel Gas Fitting is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from When I replace my water heater controller, the existing gas fitting stuck to the inlet too tight... When I replace my water heater controller, the existing gas fitting stuck to the inlet too tight that it was impossible to remove it without breaking the plastic housing. Besides, the plumber put pipe dope on the flare end. So, I just throw away the old fitting, and I put the new fitting in the new controller. So, there is no need to replace the gas hose. Test the new connection with soapy water, and no leak.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's exactly what I need When I bought a new gas range, they recommend me to buy a new hose set too. I found I actually need the adapter only and HD has it.
